The students did great when there was a guest but covering the material today with me was a disappointment because some of the students are more worried about cracking jokes and being funny with each other than learning the material. As I told them in class this is an opportunity for them to learn some material to help them pass this test - wouldn't it be great if they passed before they even took Algebra 1?
Tomorrow's quiz will cover: integers, fraction, equivalent, percent, proportion, ratio, Formula for Pythagoream Therom, Is not equal to Today we worked on Checking Accounts - check out the lecture to figure out how to complete a deposit slip and fill out a check. Then homework is to use the check register and record our two transactions - the deposit and the check. You need to have a finished register when you come to class tomorrow.
Student started their Resumes today, and objectives happened to be the biggest questions. The best advice I can give is to either give a non specific objective or after finding the job you want to apply for to fix your objective to match that job. The other option would be to simply not put an objective on your Resume. Remember there is NO right answer.
In your Applied Math 2 today we had a special guest helping prep us for the Algebra 1 EOC assessment that students will be taking on May 25th. Mr. LaMunyan came in and went through the problems of our practice test. I think it really helped the students get a better understanding of what they will see, and hopefully they remember some of it.
The students did a great job of paying attention and working through problems - great JOB!!!! Earn 5 extra credit points by searching my website for the Word of the Day - and each day you can submit the word of the day by typing the word, on the Word of the Day blog before closing each day.

Students started a sample EOC for Algebra 1 from the State of Tennesse we will go over the answers tomorrow in class. Applied Math 1 students - read page 3-9 in your "How to do Your Banking" and then listen to the lecture on Setting Goals. Each student was given a sticky note to write down a SMART Goal and then post on the window. Their SMART Goal needs to be money related and then posted on the wall. If you were gone from class today, you can post your goal and I will copy it down and post.
