Students and teachers alike are getting ready for the Upcoming Winter Break - but just like getting ready for the Holidays there is so much to do before then. I am enjoying watching the students in Digitools learn the Excel program and then teaching each other. We have ran into some issues but overall not bad. The 7th grade Digitools class is finishing up Lesson work out of the Student Folder - due on 12/17. Applied Math has been great with the new technology of recording lecture and I have seen a huge turn around in the classes with the learning of the material. Hopefully the new addition of the lessons will help parents as well. Digital Media is going to present their Prezi's tomorrow - I am excited to watch them as they are now more knowledge about this subject then I am.
I am working on the grading and will keep updating, hoping that this weekend will be a success and all grades will be current. If you want to post a comment on my blog and you are asked for a username and password type in the username and password you use to login into the computers.
Well I got the first set of Lecture Notes for Applied Math download to the site you will find them under the Applied Math Files - yeah yeah yeah. So now there is no reason to say that you didn't understand because you can get online and hear the lecture from home.
Really really disappointed in my 1st hour digitool students, there were 2 that came in on Friday after school to work on their assignments, the rest just didn't care. Now you are going to be serving the most time with me - you owe me 15 minutes for every assignment you didn't turn in. So start making up the time. Some of you owe me a ton.
The factoring test scores were not so good, so we are going to do a Review on Factoring tomorrow in class, and then students will be required to come in and make up the test. Reminder Applied Math 2 - you have to pass all the tests this semester with a B if you want to earn a B for the class, if you want an A all tests must have a 90% or better. Time is running out to retake those tests.
Chapter 5 is finished we took the test today in 2 different formats one a written test which was 10 points and then a computerized test which made the students apply what they had learned. We are now starting Chapter 8 which is Excel spreadsheets the assignments 12 in total and the project will all be due on Dec 17th - if there is a needed for more time I will extend one school day, but expect students to work at home over break.
Today they did a short 1 minute timer and then worked on their Project for Memos and Letters - these will be due tomorrow and are to be submitted before the student leaves class.
Grades are almost done, I did handout grade sheets to students today. If an assignment is marked missing the student will either serve 15 minutes lunch detention for the assignment or complete the assignment - most someone will serve is 20 (that is 300 wonderful minutes with me). I would suggest to students, start getting your assignments done in class and turned in so you don't have to spend your lunches with me.
Reminder - gradesheets can be signed and returned by 12/10/10 for extra credit. Some of you need all the extra credit you can get. So you are the top dogs - this is the only class with no missing assignments which means no one in there serving lunch detention. Lets try to get those Prezi's done so we can present on
