RSI - the reason that we want to use proper typing technique.
So what is RSI? We will watch a video on RSI in class on Tuesday, from that video write a blog to discuss what you learned from the video, and also what area of typing technique you think you need to improve on and why. Your response must be at least 100 words. You will then need to watch other students during the week and provide them feedback on their typing technique. In the feedback be specific and constructive so that the student can learn and change their ways. You can also suggest ways that help you be successful in your technique. You will need to provide feedback for two (2) students and have at least 50 words. Want to watch the video tonight - RSI VIDEO

What I learned in the RSI video if that u do everything that your suppose to do that you want get so many cramps and you want strain you neck , arms, and figures,. You should always be in a good mood and always help other when they are need to help every once in a while you should get up and steach so that u become so stiffed and cant move. You should always listen when your told to do something, if someone else gives you advise you should always take that person advise and see if it help you become a better at typing.

I learned that u can get hurt if don’t use the right typing technique. You should listen to what Mrs. Miller tells us so we do not have to have surgery for typing wrong. I also learned some new stretches for typing. It is always important to not look at your hand or the keys. I need to Improve in keeping my feet flat because I like to put them side ways. It is a bad habit so I will try hard not to do that. I need to remember where the keys I need are so I can be a good typing.

The video I watched on RSl was very useful for me because typing isn’t the only thing I do a lot with my wrists. I play a lot of video games and ive been taking piano lessons for 6 years. I didn’t realize how important it was to strech your arms after typing until now. One technique I need to work on is having my wrists higher above the keys because Im having trouble shifting. If I get better at shifting ill become a much better typer. I hope I can learn this quick.

Repetitive strain injury. What I learned from the video in class is that you can have a serious injury from typing in the wrong positions. Repeated static movement can cause it. It can cause neck shoulder, back, arms, wrist, and finger pain. There are 3 stager to this 1.it is easy to locate and does not last very long. 2. The pain radiates out longer and is a little more painful. 3. Is that the pain is really easy to locate and it last a long time and is more severe. When you type for long periods of time the circulation to you’re wrist is very low. When you are typing for a long period of time you should stretch out a lot stretch you’re shoulders, neck, arms, wrist, and fingers. so you should be careful with the way that you type.

What I learned form the video is that if you do every thing correctly u won’t get hurt and wont have to go through pain and surgery possibly. I think I have to work on my posture the most out of all my defaults in digatoles. Also I need to work on not looking at the keys when I type. Mostly because it gets you mad Mrs. Miller but also because I want to be a very good typer when I grow up. I also need to listen to the teacher a little bit more than I already did today

I watched a video today called RSI and I learned a lot by watching it. I learned that I shout stretch after I am done typing other wise I will get muscle cramps and carpel tunnel in my forearms and my wrists and fingers. It is kind of like arthritis. You also have to type with correct poster which is a straight back, feet flat on floor no poking with the fingers, always looking at what ever you are typing. Keep your palms up off the table. If you don’t do this then you will get RSI. That is what I learned by watching it.

When we watched a video today called RSI I learned to take a break every once in a while or you may get repetitive stress injury. Repetitive stress injury is when you get muscle cramps and may strain your neck, arms, and fingers it may cause carpel tunneling and tennis elbow. What I think I need to work on in class is to keep my palms of the table because it seems so much more relaxing and comfortable witch will cause RSI and slow down my typing. Posture is a hard thing to keep up during class because 90 min. is a long time to just sit there so I end up using horrible posture toward the end of class.

RSI is a disease that happens when you work on your computer to long. It starts at the wrist and you don’t feel it to long but it hurts. The second time it is at the wrist and it last longer and is more painful. It is also harder to detect. The last symptom is the whole arm and is very painful. A good way to treat it is to not work on your computer for a long period of time but if you have to take breaks or do some stenches. I learned that you should stretch every once a wile.

Jackson, your typing is better than mine. You were the first one done in the class on the typing test and I was second one done but on the bubble test with the numbers it took you a wile to find the number keys. You need to keep your backpack out of the way of your feet.

Jonathan you are doing very great at posture but maybe you could sit up a little more other whys you don’t look at the keyboard. I have seen u have troubles finding the g though. Also you keep your wrists off the table whitch I usually fail at. You are not the fastest typist but very accurate. Keep it up!

Memo you are doing good typing. I think it would help you alot more if when you are typing and u messed up not to get angry with your slef to make you want to give up and look at the keys. you also should relaxs alot more and and not be so worried that your gonna mess up or hit the worng key, cause alot of time you will mess up alot and your still learning well thats all..

RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) is what you get from typing for long periods of time. RSI can be avoided by taking micro breaks ,twenty second breaks you take by streaching you arms and neck, by doing this you let the blood flow more smoothly through your vains. Another way to aviod RSI is by having good technique and posture. The area of typing technique i need to work on is my shifting it is very difficult for me to hit the shift keys. The reason i need to improve on it is because it is take ing me a long time to finish.

RSI is the abbreviated term for Repetative Strain Injury. This is what happens when you do not type the proper way. What you will experience is aches and pains in the back, shoulders, arms, wrists, and fingers. To avoid this you need to take a little brake after you type for a long period of time and to type correctly and proper. RSI is a progresive disorder, which means the longer you wait for treatment the longer the recovery. To relive pain you can take a short stetch, stretching the back, shoulders, and the wrists and fingers. What I learned in the video is that this type of injury is very serious and can affect you in alot of diffrent ways.

RSI stands for Repetitive Strain Injury. RSI happens when you do not use the proper typing techniques. This can be avoided by taking breaks of about 20 seconds in between typing. Typing for a long time puts pressure on your muscles and you will get low blood circulation. The longer you wait to treat this, it will get worse and it will get harder to locate. RSI may cause Carpal Tunnel and Tennis Elbow. Some symptoms of RSI are inflammation, pain, redness, swelling, and eventually limited movement. I need to improve on keeping my feet flat on the floor and getting more accuracy and speed.

I learnd some you can get hurt from typing! I learnd that your posture is very important. If not u can get hurt. There are three stages one being the lest severe and the third is the most severe. To stop this from happening u need to stretch after or during typing for a long time. If u don't you can start getting pain in your arms, fingers, and neck. If you don't do anything about this you could have to get surgry. Every stage has more pain. Stage one the pain will not be there your fingers will be cold and you will get cramps. Stage two you would have pain after you were done typing. Stage three you will have the pain at all times. So you want to make sure you strech so you don't have these probelms.

The RSI video was very helpful because I learn proper typing techniques. RSI stands for Repetitive Stress Injury. You get that from not having the proper techniques. You can get it in your fingers, wrist, forearms, shoulders, back, and neck. There are stretches you can do to prevent Repetitive Stress Injury. There are stretches for all the body parts you can get it in. You can get cramps a lot too. There are 3 stages of the Repetitive Stress Injury. The 1st stage is the pain is easy to notice. The 2nd stage is the pain radiates out and is more painful. The 3rd stage is the pain is really easy to locate and pain is more severe.

Kyle – My typing, in my opinion, is better than yours. You have good technique. A thing you have wrong is your wrists. They are down on the table. You need to have them up. Your feet need to be flat on the floor in front of you. You also need to stop looking at the keys.
Kyle
9/1/2011 04:29:42 am
Tyson- you should probably try sitting up more so you wont look at the keyboard as much, when you type. You should also try not saying I cant in this class. My typing in my opinion is way better than yours. Your feet also are sometimes off the ground which may affect you.

When we watched the RSI video today I learned to take breaks during typing. If you type for long periods of times he muscles in your body can contract so much that it begins to hurt your body. What I need to improve is the positioning of my wrists. I let my wrists slouch down and hit the table and that can cause carpool tunnel in future years. I also need to change the positioning of my elbows or else I will get tennis elbow. The last thing I need to work on is to stretch more when my muscles are feeling tense.

I need to sit strait and work on my key placement I also need to fix my hand, wrist position. The RIS was really helpful it told me if I don’t fix my ways they would hurt me in later on in life. And explained the importance of typing correctly. I hope that I can achieve the goal I have set out to do. The RIS also helped me to realize that resting my elbows on my knees will cause damage so I have added to my goal. Does any one have any suggestions for me? If u do please respond.

Jacob S., The shift keys were hard but what I noticed about you from sitting next to you was that you are starting to lose patience for the typing lessons. If you slow down and focus on where the keys are you will do much better and get to the tests.
Blaine
9/1/2011 06:03:18 am
Tyson you need to sit upright and work on finger positions if you do these simple adjustments you will find yourself a faster keyboarded. Remember if you simply change your ways u can achieve any goal you set. When you are board try typing correctly at home. Good luck bud.

McKenney, I have seen how you have let your wrists slouch down and hit the table so that is one thing you can improve on. Another thing you could approve on is just to relax and calm down because there are often times when you will do bad or not pass a lesson and you will hit the table or something, otherwise you are not to bad of a typist.

Memo- You should memerize your keys. Doing this will help you alot. It will be slow and uneasy at first, but over time you should see better results. And you can try not to cheat on the typing games that we play and mabey you'll get a candy. On the other hand you are doing good.
Joshua
9/1/2011 08:37:35 am
Stevie- You either need your glasses or scoot the monitor foarword. That is the only problem I see. Mabey you will improve with your typing skills if you can see the screen. I bet you if you find your glasses you will be better. But untill you find your glasses, do everthing to the best of your ability.

I did not even know that RSI existed before watching this video, I thought that when my wrists started hurting it was only because I was typing too long, but it is also because I’m not in the right typing position. I’m trying to do better now that I know I started to hurt because I wasn’t in the right positions. I used to have chicken wings but now I’m getting better at that. I also used to stretch my legs out but now I’m putting my feet flat on the floor. The area I think I can improve the most is not looking at the keys, because when I do it slows me down.

Jacob H. - I use my wrists a lot too. I have a nasty habit of setting my wrists on the table. One thing I have learned to help with that is to raise my seat a little bit higher so my elbows are at 90 degrees. I also had trouble shifting. It took me almost a whole day to finish that lesson. Maybe if we just stick with it we will get better.

RSI is means Repetitive Strain Injury. This is what happens when you use the wrong typing technique. You will experience pain, and aches in your back, shoulders, arms, wrists, fingers and sometimes your head. To avoid this you need to use the correct typing position, and not be lazy. The longer you do this wrong the worse it will get, and you will feel pain all the time. You need to take short breaks, and stretch. You will need to stretch your back, arms, shoulders, necks, wrists, fingers, and it is good to get up and walk around, and get some water. I learned I should do the typing the correct way so I don’t feel pain all the time, and it will help [me pass the digitools class.

Blaine- i do not know what to tell you except for you are a bad typer. You slouch when you type and you always talk and you never shutup. You need to have your back straight and your feet flat on the ground, your arms at a 90 and wrists up, and your arms not resting on your lap.
Kheigan

Memo- You are a little cheater. You have pretty good typing technique from what I can tell except you do not really know where your keys are. You have to look down under the paper. You need to punish yourself to not look at the keys while you are typing. You do type pretty fast and good.
Cole

Mckenney – I learned to take longer breaks also. One of my problems before was not taking any breaks. I’m now taking longer brakes in-between each lesson or test. It really does help. If I don’t take breaks my muscles tighten up and they start hurting, so in order to avoid that I take breaks.

Memo- I think you would get really good at typing if you practiced not looking at the keys so much. Don't get frustrated when you mess up. I know I do but this will only help for later. If you don't look at the keys, eventually you will become a very good typer.

Repetitive Strain Injury. I learned from the video that improper typing technique can really hurt your hands, arms, shoulders, and neck. Also taking short breaks now and then can help prevent RSI. At first the pain is easy to locate then after time is harder to notice. Stretching my arms and neck have really help me type better. I need to improve on concentrating on the words I am typing. I also need to improve on not just passing our lessons but to remember where the keys are. My goal is to type over forty words a minute this year.

The R.S.I. video explains what R.S.I. is and how it effects both your typing skill and other important skills. R.S.I. first affects the neck, then shoulders, then upper arms, lower arms, wrists, and then finally fingers. This pain will at first appear as a small soreness and will go away very quickly when you stop typing, then it keeps getting more painful and will disappear after longer periods of time. That being said R.S.I. is caused by lack of blood to the areas of affect. Bad posture when typing and various other things while at the computer cause this. The only way to avoid R.S.I is to sit and type in the correct posture.

RSI or Repetitive Strain Injury is a collective term for physical pains. It is mostly caused by excessive pain due to wrong typing methods in the class or work force you are in. It is most common in the neck, wrists, shoulders, hands, and arms. Our teacher Mrs. Miller always tells to sit up straight with our arms up off the keyboard and the table. Also to keep our feet out in front of us and our backs straight to the chair. I also learned so far that we need to take breaks in class as often as we can.

Repetitive strain injury is a term that is also known as physical pain. You can get RSI from not using proper typing techniques like not sitting properly, and not holding your wrists off of the table. You can get RSI in the neck, wrists, shoulders, hands, and arms. RSI is formed by excessive pain caused by nonright hand, wrist, arm, and shoulder positions, and RSI can get worse over time. It is good to take breaks while typing. Stretching can also help prevent RSI. You should sit with your feet under the desk and your arms should be bent at a 90 degree angle. It is not good to rest your hands on the keyboard or table.

CK: Hi I just got done reading your R.S.I. thing and I noticed something very familiar. About every one of these looks exactly the same I mean I know you can’t get too creative when your talking about a physical condition, but I think we could all put just a little more pizzazz into this stuff. Of course I should be talking I barely answered the questions, but still.

RSI stands for Repetitive Strain Injury. You get this when you type for too long without taking a break. You get the pains in your neck, wrists, shoulders, hands, and arms. You can avoid this by taking breaks when you type or use correct posture. Even if you use correct posture, you still could get RSI. The first stage of RSI is pain that only hurts when you are typing and goes away quickly after you are done. The second stage spreads the area of pain and stays longer. It is also harder to find the exact area of pain. The final stage is in a very large area and doesn’t go away. I think I need to be better at my posture. My feet and back are the worst.

Katelin- You are a good typist and usually have good posture. You usually are very close to your goals and have little errors. I think you might want to consider speeding up a little because that would help you reach your goal. You shouldn’t type faster if you cant backspace effectively though.
Katelin

Bryan- your clearly a better at the computer than I am. You usually get like forty to fifty words per minute with no errors. I can’t wait till I can do that. It really helps using the backspace. Thanks for the tip. I hope to catch up to you one day but it won’t be soon.

Clayton- Thank you for the tip. Your right, I do use the backspace a lot. I know that by the end of the semester you will be as good or not better than I am. You are very affective when you are going slow and all need is to speed up and you will be great at a computer.

Ruslan- From sitting next to you for the past two weeks I can tell you are a very good typer except when you look. We need to learn not to talk so much when we are supposed to be typing. So that's pretty much all I have for your typing.
CK
9/2/2011 09:08:19 am
Cole- You are much better at typing than me and much faster to but you look at the keys a lot. To make myself stop looking at the keys I went slower and tested different keys until I learned where most of the keys were. I know it’s easier just to look at the keys, but it was just a thought to help you and to get Mrs. Miller to stop telling you not to look at the keys.

Rsi is a disease that happens when you do the same rpeditive things. sometimes people get tennis elbow or carpel tunnel. But if you use the correct typing techniqus and stretch in short breaks it cand be better for you. Sometimes it also helps to walk around. I need to improve on a few things. I dont sit up strait so i need to work on that. Also i tend to peck at the keys so i need to stop that. Last i look at the keys when i type so I have to learn not to do that. Use proper technique!

Daniel, good job for trying to keep your feet flat. You can try to weights on your shoes to keep them flat. Also try not to look at your keys. Remember if Mrs. Miller catches you she will slap you upside the head. One last thing try not to put your feet sideways.

Logan: You need to lesson to the teacher. When she says to go to a web site don't screw around. You just need to pay attention. Also you put your wrists on the desk. You roll around on the chair a lot and spin around. You shouldn't argue with the teacher.

What I learned is the RSI was that RSI stood for repetitive strain injury. That means that you need to use the right typing techniques, because if you don't you can get a serious injury. You need have good posture. You should sit up straight, feet flat on the floor, wrists of the key board, and keep your arms at a 90 degrees angle. You should take a brake if you have been typing for a long period of time. There are many kinds of stretches you can do. The main thing is that you don't type until you have a injury take a brake and stretch and remember to have good posture. Comments are closed.
