Instead of completing mock interviews for the class the remaining DQ's will require you to post answers to sample interview questions. I expect answers to be answered as if you were in an interview setting and be written using proper English and using 200-300 words.
Here is a web site that will give you some advice on answering questions. How to Answer Tricky Questions Answer the following interview question and then comment on (one) 1 other student's posts by giving them advice on a better way to answer the question, using the knowledge gained by reading the article above. "What is your greatest strength, and one of your weaknesses?"

My greatest strength would be being a leader. I always want to do what is best for others and do everything I can to make sure I get done what needs to be done. I have had lots of experience being a leader I am currently the freshman class vice president and last year I was the Jr. High ASB president. I was the 4-H livestock president for two years and I was also the creative kid's 4-H president for one year. I always want to make all of the activities I do better and to do that I get involved in leadership so that I can have a say in what is going on and I am able to make everyone around me better. One of my weaknesses would be keeping track of when things are due I just have to remember to write it down somewhere and make sure I don’t just put it off until last minute. If I don’t write it down or do something to make me remember I won't remember to get it done. To make sure that I don’t forget about anything I can use something like a planner or use a calendar app on my phone to remember when I need to get things done by.

Maddy, I thought your comment was very well written. One way you could improve on this response would be giving a short example of how you are a good leader. You could give examples on how you planned an event. You could also give details that highlight your leadership skills.

I think one of my greatest strengths is staying organized. My spaces such as my living space, my workspace, my locker, my backpack – they’re all organized. If these spaces aren’t organized it stresses me out and I feel that I am more efficient when I am organized in this sense. I also like to stay on top of my tasks and assignments by making a prioritized list of what I need to get done so that I can finish everything on time. In another sense of organization I am always trying to be prepared. For example I always try to finish assignments on time, study for upcoming tests and quizzes, be to all of my classes/events on time, along with having all of the supplies I need for class on hand. I would say one of my biggest weaknesses would be procrastinating. I almost always finish my tasks on time, but usually it takes me a while to finish what I am doing because I spend time doing other things that aren’t high on my priority list. To better myself in this weakness, I have been making lists and putting distractions away so that I can finish my workload in a timely manner.

One of my greatest strengths would be working well with others. Working on different activities with a group has allowed me to develop my ability to work and communicate clearly with others. I was the 4-H secretary two years ago, my class secretary in seventh grade and the ASB secretary for the Junior High. I am currently the freshman class secretary. These opportunities of being in a leadership spot has given me the chance to get to know people better and work well with them. I believe that being able to work with people and communicate with others is essential to improving their performance. I would say that one of my biggest weaknesses would be procrastinating. I always plan to get all of my work done correctly and on time, but I always put it off and say that I’ll do it later but, that never happens. I have really been trying to work hard and get all of my papers turned in on time and get things done when they are due or even before that. To make sure that all of my assignments get turned in on time I can have a reminder on my phone or put it on my calendar.

Heidi, I thought yours was very well written, one thing I would do is tell where the well communicating has gotten you and those activities. Like what good things have you been able to do when working well with those people and more benefits it gives you. Other than that it looked great!

One of my greatest strength is being determine and striving for the best. This comes as a great tool because it allows me never to want to give up. I always want to be better or to improve anything I can. One of my weaknesses, however, can mess this up entirely.

Brielle, I think you could have done better on describing. I believe that you had an awesome response in my opinion, but you could and should have described your strength better, you should be proud of being strong in that trait. I know that too much description can sound like rambling on but having a good detail of what the writer and or author is trying to say helps understand their point of view. You had a great description of your weakness, the only thing I would say to help is saying at the beginning to actually say “my worst weakness is…”

My greatest strength is my ability to work under pressure, focus on projects, and have a positive attitude. Another of my strengths is problem solving. I have the ability to see a situation from different perspectives and I can get my work done even on hard times. My other strength is communication skills because I can talk to people easily and I can give out ideas without having to explain them. I have strong writing skills. I have a strong work ethic. One of my weaknesses is public speaking. Public speaking is sometimes scary because you like just space out or you say something random. Another one of my weaknesses is not getting my homework turned in on time because then it is late and I don’t get full credit. Another of my weaknesses is not paying attention in class and then I don’t know what to do for the assignment.

Gustavo, I think that you did give very good examples on what your strengths and weaknesses are but you didn’t give more explanation to each of them or even one of them. I think in a interview type of answer it would be more professional then just stating them. Also when you state another one of your weaknesses or strengths you use the word “another” a lot. You could use something like, “ I also have a weak spot in…”.

My greatest strength is never giving up. When I put my mind to something I will never back down. I will always keep trying and when I hit a wall I will find a way to get over it. I think I learned this from wrestling because I have wrestled for 11 years and I had to learn how not to give up. I always knew there were going to be people that would beat me but when I got beat I would find out what I did wrong and then practice it and then wait to wrestle the person again. I didn’t want the kid to win again so I kept trying the best that I could. I always wanted to win but when I didn’t I didn’t want to quit wrestling I wanted to beat the kid I lost to. My greatest strength is to never give up! One of my weaknesses is fear of heights. My Fear of heights has been around forever. I Barely go on roller coasters because I get Scared but if I have to I will I just am not very fond of it. This can be bad because in some jobs you will have to be pretty high in the air and to be able to do that job I will have to overcome my weakness of heights.

I don’t feel like I have any one greatest strength. They all come in handy at one point in time or another, but if I had to choose I would say it is my ability to problem solve. Without this skill, I wouldn’t be where I am today and I would not have been able to get past situations in my past. If I had to advise anyone in which attribute to improve on it would be this. You must be able to use this and look at things from someone else’s view, such as is said in the quote “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view, until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” – Atticus Finch, To Kill a Mockingbird. This is the most critical part of problem solving, and the one that helps the most throughout life. Nobody is perfect, so I am really forced to acknowledge the fact that I do have flaws among my strengths. One of these flaws would perhaps be my impatience with others and my ability to comprehend things faster and easier than they do. I feel at times that if I get something easily that they should too, that is why my problem solving comes in handy and why I feel that is my greatest strength.

Cameron, you did very well explaining what your greatest strength is but I think you should also work on explaining your weakness because I didn’t understand if you had a weakness or you maybe just forgot to explain it. You explained your strength really well I can understand it clearly.

What my strengths are in the workplace are things such as motivation, dedication and just flat out hard work. Let me explain though. I have good motivation for working because I understand that I have a job that needs to get done and I will do whatever I need to do in order to get it done. I have good dedication because I love what I do and even if I don’t I will still act like I do. It is important to find some enjoyment in what you do. Hard work is because I actually work for what I need to accomplish. Take my school work for example, I have come in the last three days after track practice until like eight a clock at night just to finish my school work and make sure I always have what needs to be complete done. This is just a few of my many strengths in the workplace.

I really like the strength that you listed. Hard work is very important no matter what you do whether it is school or a job. You also said that finding enjoyment is a strength for you. I think this is true. I think that if you take your strengths and apply them to your weakness of getting frustrated then things may smooth out for you. You gave good examples of your strengths and weaknesses.

My greatest weakness is probably the fact that I can not spell all that well now you are probably thinking that is a small issue but for me it is a huge problem because I will have a bunch of words that are new to me and I must learn them and learn how to spell them but by the time that I might have a good grasp on how I should spell it I will have taken longer than what others took to get it down. Then there are just some words that no matter how hard I try to get it down I will mess up such as BECAUSE since there are so many small things that I need to know that I will not have an idea on how I should spell it.

I believe that my greatest strength would be my heart. I have been told ever since I was little that I have a strong heart and that just keeps my mood up all the time. I think this is a good strength because this is my source of determination and confidence. My brain my send all the messages but I listen to my heart. This helps me make the best decisions for the people around me. I tend to think of everyone else before myself. I want everyone to be happy and I want to keep the peace between people. I always try to be smiling through everything so people have something good to look to. It makes me happy to see everyone around me is in a good mood and smiling.

Brooke, I thought that your strength was really good! I think that you could've showed off your strength a little more by giving an example of a time when you listened to your heart. On your weakness I thought you explained it well, but I think you could've answered it a little better by explaining how you overcome your weakness. If you haven't overcame your weakness, then explain what you are doing to try and make your weakness not as bad.

I believe that my greatest strength would be my responsibility. Every day I prove that I am responsible by turning in work on time, studying for tests, being on time to class and events, being prepared, and helping other students. I do all of these things on a daily basis, not just in the classroom, but also in sports, FFA, and life. I make sure to be diligent and on task all the time. Responsibility is a huge task, and I know that I am responsible because teachers count on me and trust me. Teachers trust me to help other students and to help substitute teachers when they are confused. They also trust me to be a good example and to get things done for them. Responsibility is a huge strength for me, and I utilize this strength in everything I do. I think that my biggest weakness would be my confidence. I can be very unsure of myself and I am not confident in myself in a lot of things which can sometimes effect my performance. A lack of confidence is basically a lack of trust, and if you don’t trust yourself then you won’t do as well in whatever you need to do. I am working on my confidence by always striving to get better to help me be sure of myself.

I think that one of my greatest strengths would be my commitment. When I commit to something like sports, or FFA or just more school activities I go all the way through it and I give it my all. I am very committed to my sports, specially basketball, also my school work. I always try and make sure everything gets in on time and for my sports I always give 110% at what I do and I work on getting better at it. For example, in basketball I am working at it on and off season. I will go to the gym and shoot after track practice and work on getting better for the next season. Also in track I do pole vault and that takes heart and commitment. I am always one of the last ones to leave practice and I am working on what I could do better and I will commit to coming on the weekend to go work on it. My weakness would be that I don’t really speak my opinion or just very vocal in many things. I tend to keep things to myself and I don’t really get out there in life, it is something that I have and will continue to work on. It’s something that will make me better in sports and in my future careers and school.

I liked the way that you gave examples in your writing. It helps us have a clear picture of your strengths. I agree that your ability to commit yourself to sports is one of your strengths. You said that not stating your opinion was a weakness. I disagree, I think that the ability to not state your opinion could be viewed as a strength. You could have maybe convinced me of this by giving more detail or examples like you did in your strength.

I like how detailed you got in your description with showing how you commit. I think that if you said this in an interview it would make a lot of sense. Even though stating your opinion and being more involved is importantly I think your strength is even more importantly because if you aren't committed then you won't be very successful in future careers. I believe that if you keep working on your weakness I think you can become a lot better because are already committed, but you just needs to stay more involved vocally.

I think that one of my greatest strengths would be that I am friendly and kind. I get along with just about anyone and helps me have many friends. This helps in school working in groups and sports. I think it will also benefit me in the workplace as I would be able to get along with my boss and coworkers even if someone is difficult to deal with. It is important to be kind to others so that same respect is paid to you. This is something that comes very naturally to me. My greatest weakness is being quiet. Being quiet means that I am unable to put my thoughts into words very easily. This makes it hard because people don’t always know how I feel or what I am thinking about something. This can be a downfall at school because it is difficult for me to talk in group discussions or ask a question when I have one. This is something that I am working very hard on improving though. Being class president this year and being in FFA, has made it impossible for me to avoid talking in front of others. I feel that I am getting better with this every day.

I think my greatest strength would be working well with others. Whenever I am given an assignment that I have to complete with others I make sure everyone is involved and happy with how the group project is going. To be good at working well with others I have to be open to other people’s ideas and not go my way or the highway. You need good communication skills and be able to resolve problems right as they are happening. My greatest weakness would have to be my prioritization skills. I don’t always put the more important things first. If I had the choice to do an assignment that I didn’t like due tomorrow and an assignment due in a week that I did like, I would probably choose to do the thing that I enjoyed. That is something I am working on. Over all I think that there are always to improve on everything you do.

I believe that one of my greatest strengths is working well with other people. As I’ve gotten older I have been able to work with others and improve my ability to be a good team member. An example of how I’m good at working in groups is when I’m assigned something in class. When I get my group I try to keep everyone on task but not necessarily take over. I do my best to help with everything that I can by doing my part and helping the other members if they don’t understand something or they aren’t confident about doing it on their own. One of my greatest weaknesses is making sure I don’t have late work. I tend to forget about due dates so when I have my work completely done it still ends up being late because I don’t turn it in. If I am reminded to turn in my work or the due date is mentioned I will have my work on time. An example is when I’m in class and I get all of my work done early so I think to turn it in until the due date. The problem is I forget when it is unless one of my classmates or the teacher brings up the date that it’s to be turned in.

One of my greatest strengths would have to be how fast and how accurately i can type. I can type around an average of 60 words per minute as long as i have a good keyboard but if i really. really try i could make it into the 100 but usually not for long, and i would have more mistakes. One of my greatest weaknesses would have to be my social Anxiety. If I'm talking one to one or just a few people i can usually speak clearly but I'm in front of a group i can't talk very clearly and i stutter much more.

Jack, I know that you are an amazing typist, and that those things are true, but I think you could have explained how useful that is by using examples such as getting papers typed up quick, and other things that you could use typing for. Also I would recommend not talking about mistakes you make when you type fast, so that you sound better, and only give what you type on average.

One of my strengths is that I can work very well with others. I have gotten so good at this from participating in high school sports and training to be a CIT at 4h camp for the past year. Both of these activities involve planning, working together, and brainstorming as a team. I have also been involved in FFA for the past two years which promotes team working skills. Activities that I work well with people in FFA are Vet Science, Novice Parliamentary Procedure, Beginning Parliamentary Procedure, and Advanced Parliamentary Procedure. I would say a weakness that I have is presenting in front of large groups of people, but I am improving in this with my FFA activities because they all involve presenting to people. I have improved in presenting so much this year so hopefully I won't consider this a weakness by next year.

Teagan I think that you should answer more descriptively because the DQ requires 200-300 words and it doesn't seem like you met that expectation. I also think that you should add more things to your strength and tell why each of those activities help you with working with others.
Jaden

I think that my strength would be setting good examples. I have always tried to be involved with my school and community. For example I try to be a leader by being in leadership roles. I was the 4-H vice president, I was on kids council, I was the creative kids vice president, the 8th grade president, and I am doing a lot of things in ffa to gain more leadership skills and to be able to present myself in front of a crowd and have good speaking skills. By being involved and learning leadership skills it sets good examples by showing people what they can do to help their future careers. Also everywhere I go I try to be kind to everyone and to stick up for others that are getting hurt. By doing that it shows people that it helps other people when you are kind. One of my weaknesses is it is hard for me to make decisions. This is a weakness because if someone asks what I want to do or asks for my opinion I don't know what to say right away and I always feel like I am being pressured to answer the question. I always just leave it up to the person to figure it out.
Evan

For me, I think that my greatest strength is that I am always involved, whether at school or not. At school, I am involved in every sport season, which are cross-country in the fall, basketball in the winter, and baseball in the spring. I am also in FFA, where I do novice parliamentary procedure, and did creed speaking and quiz bowl. I am involved in activities that the school puts on like dances, spirit weeks, and dodgeball nights. A couple of years ago, I was the class secretary. Outside of school I am a part of boy scouts, that take part in things like food drives, parades, and other activities. Finally, I have my own lawn mowing business, which keeps me involved with the community, along with volunteering at the local food bank over the summer. One weakness would be having little to no spare time if I didn’t keep things in a schedule and organize my time so that things don’t overlap and create a problem for me and the people I would be around. Since I am always busy, I must keep an extremely organized schedule so that I am not late to an activity, or miss it entirely. Comments are closed.
