On September 11 we should take a moment to reflect on a major United States tragedy, for some this will be a day they lost everything and for others a day they realized everything. All though you were to young to remember this was a day that needs to be remembered and taught about in the history of
our country. In the blog for this week I want you to reflect on what you know about that day and what your parents remember about that day. Then reflect on what the day has done for the USA and your family, have things changed from 2001 to 2013? Finally, reflect on what you think about this day and its personal significances to you or others. I want honesty but respect for others feelings as well. Your initial response should be 200 words. I am not requiring a peer response this week, but if you read another students post and feel there is something you want to post in a reflection for that student you can earn extra credit points for your reflections.

On the day of the twin towers attack thousands of people lost their lives. My parents told me that on that day it was tragic and hard to watch on the T.V over and over again. That on that day so many innocent people lost their lives because of this terrorist attack. Nobody knows why they attacked on this day but it happened and nobody can change what has already happened. My parents don't remember a lot about this day. How this event did affect my life? Because of this day there is a lot more security all around the world. There is security almost everywhere that you go. But also because of this day we have fought in many wars and have the freedom that we do today. My opinion about this day is that it should not have happened. The terrorist attacked and killed many innocent people. What I don't understand is why so many people had to lose their lives because of some stupid terrorist. In my opinion I wish that the day 9/11 never would have happened but at the same time where would the world be if 9/11 wouldn't have happened. Today there could not be as many security issues so I don't honestly know what to think about what happened in ways it can be a good thing and in others it can be a terrible thing.

Brandon, i completely agree with you 9/11 was a terrible thing. Also though, with all of the violence in todays daily life, maybe with out 9/11 and with out todays security we would have more casualties with crimes. With out todays security I believe that we would have many airplane incidents with out all the security, maybe people blowing up damns if we didn't close them down at 4 or so every night. 9/11 is in the past and we cant change it now and it has made America stronger as a country.

On September 11, 2001 I was a 2 year old without a care in the world. I don’t really remember it, but I was at home with my mom. My mom told me she remembers that we were at home, and she was feeding my little sister when the news came across the TV. She also said that that was the only thing that was on the news that day. Because of 9/11, our country has improved its security, mainly in airports. Since the attack Osama Bin Laden, the man responsible, has been killed thanks to the United States military. I think that because he died the United States had a big relief lifted off of our shoulders even though there are other terrorists out there. The United States has changed dramatically since the attack. Mostly for the better but there will always be a scar that will never heal because of 9/11. Many families lost their loved ones and friends. I honestly think that the people who were crazy enough to fly the planes into the twin towers needed to be evaluated by a doctor and sent to a mental institution. I don’t think I had any family or friends that were killed but my sympathy goes out to all the people who lost their family members and friends.

I completely agree. I don't know why someone would want to attack another country. It just blows my mind how much hatred and evil there is in this world.

Kaitlynn, I agree. Our security is so much more improved because of this tragic event. I feel so bad to all the people who lost everything during this attack.

September 11, 2001 was a tragic day for the United States. The twin towers were hit by a plan that was high jacked and then a second plan would hit the second building. A lot of people lost their lives because of this horrible event. Many files were lost and burned. In my opinion everyone should take a min to realize what sacrivses that the United States gave to be where we are now if the twin towers had not had been hit by plains. Osama Bin Laden was a terrorist and wanted to punish every one that was not agreeing with the way that he saw life. During the event two plains hit the twiin towers the first tower was hit in the morning. And on the first plane there was 227 civilians, and 19 high jackers. This event was the most deadlest incident for firefighters in history. If Osama Bin Laden had been stopped before the trade center we would still have one today. The twin towers were Americas only trade center it and the people inside it had a very important job to do. They were to control were every trade was to happen. They were also supposed to know who was contacting the U.S. and what country was trading with us.

On September 11, 2001, New York was attacked. The Terrorists bombed the Twin Towers and other parts of the city, killing thousands. My dad remembers it taking place while he was on the highway going to college. He heard about this event when he arrived and they sent everyone home. Then he watched it on the news when he got home. He thinks it’s the best thing that’s been on tv since the OJ Simpson case. Things have definitely changed since 2001. Were very careful about people crossing the boarders, dams and other crossing points. The whole world has changed based on this event. Even though I am too young to remember, this day is very upsetting to me. Just hearing about the things that happened to the innocent lives that were taken. I cannot imagine what the families are feeling or what many people have witnessed.

Even though I may not remember back in 2001 I know a lot about 9/11. I watch a lot of news and the History Channel. I know that on September 11, 2001 terrorists struck the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. There were a total of four planes. Two hit the Twin Towers, one hit the Pentagon, and the other, thanks to several brave heroes, crashed in a field. Every member on the crashed plane died to protect the United States. They even think the plane might have been headed for the White House. 9/11 brought the U.S.A. closer together. It brought out the ever day ordinary super heroes in many brave people. Because of the terrorist attack, we are in war with the Taliban. I have family and friends in the war, one being my brother. I did not lose any family members or friends on 9/11. I am very sorry for those who did. Losing family or friends can be very tough. I think this day was an extremely tragic day but also helped the United States come closer together. I also think that the United States has become stronger and more prepared for any attacks or disasters in our future. I hope everyone will always remember this day.

Karson you are absolutely right. It’s hard to lose family and friends, and heroes can be found in everyone. I also know how hard it is to have family or friends fighting overseas. My uncle used to fly military helicopters and my cousin has fought in Iraq. My prayers for your brother's safety.

On September 11, 2001, four airplanes were hijacked by Islamic terrorists. Three airplanes crashed into the twin towers in New York and the Pentagon in Washington DC; the fourth crashed-landed in a field outside of Shanksville, Pennsylvania, thanks to the heroic passengers aboard who tried to hijack it back. It was suspicioned that the plane was headed for the White House. This was an occasion that Americans will remember and honor for generations.

Naomi, I agree with your answer and in many ways you stated the facts about 9/11, but where is your personal view or what you were doing on 9/11? After 9/11 I think that our crime rate went up because people went on to believe that like Osama Bin Laden they will be able to get away from the law for 9, almost 10 years. Now everyday I can turn on the news in the morning and see a suicide, a murder, or someone dying in a tragic way I think with out the 9/11 attack we would have less daily crimes.

I remember that it was planned by a terrorist named Osama bin Laden. I know I was only two but I think that what happened on September eleventh should always be in the back of our mind that people like us died in such an attack on them that they had no idea it was coming. I am glad that they made a wall for the people that have passed. I full respect for all of them some in which help people out before they came out. I know that all those people were heroes. my mom remembers that she was watching a TV show and the new came on reporting that there was a huge attack that one twin tower fell by an airplane. My dad was going to work and he was listening to the radio and it switched to the bad news about the attack. Over 3,000 people were killed during the attack. More than 400 fire fighters and police showed up at the scene. Al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and crashed them. This attack has helped our security at airports and everywhere else. It reflected that people come together in tragedy and it also impacted ego by knowing that you might not be safe. Like I said before that I never know if I’m safe or not and that someone I know could be someone that could hurt me because you never know what they might do.

What I know about 9 11 is that this is one of the most unusual terrorist attacks and 19 terrorists and four plains that were hijacked, two of them hit the twin towers. 3000 people died that day and many more lost a friend or a family member. On September 11 my mom was up all night with my little brother, early that morning while she was feeding him she turned on the TV and it was playing what she thought was a movie. She turned the channel again and saw that the same thing was on and then she relied that this was real now your problem thinking wow how did she not know but think about it nothing like that had happened in her life time.

September 11, 2001 was a terrible day. That day four planes crashed. Two crashed into the Twin Towers in New York, third one hit the Pentagon outside of Washington DC, and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. About 2,996 people died total including the 343 firefighters in New York who tragically lost their lives to save others. They spent years sifting through the piles of buildings to uncover body remains. 2010 was the stopping point of sifting through the remains, but they were still finding bones of those who weren't discovered before. The Islamic terrorists that attacked America were from Saudi Arabia and many other Arab nations. I was young but over the years you learn more and more about what happened. My parents remember that 9/11 was just about the only thing that was on the news that day and the days after and even weeks after that. Since then The US has updated their security, airline security, secure US boarders, and organize and coordinate our Homeland security to protect us from violent attacks. This day is very important to remember even though it happened years ago because it impacts every ones daily life somehow to this day.

On the day of the 9/11/01 attack I was in school at the time. At about 10:00 am we got out early my mom came and picked me up and told me to watch the TV so I did I didn’t know really what was going on but I knew something was wrong. She told me that the twin towers fell. I didn’t know what the twin towers were but I knew it wasn’t good as I grew older I began to realize what happened and how it happened the 9/11/01 attack means a lot to me now that I realize what happened and since I was a little boy I have really wanted to go into the military and now I know I want to go into the us army. I have asked my parents about it and they said that it was a tragedy for those who lost there lives.

12 years ago, the terrorist attack planned by Osama Bin Laden to hit the twin towers with plains was a terrible tragedy. Many innocent people lost their lives, friends and family. I didn't know that much about 9/11 because when it happened i was only 3 years old. I asked my dad and he said that morning before he went to work he turned on the t.v. and saw and read about the tragedy all day. He said he called in work and he wasn't able to make it because he couldn't stop watching the t.v. It was a horrible, unusual, sad day, but many heroes stepped up to help was the only thing that he was proud of. I think that 9/11 has changed USA from 2001 to 2013 because we are more protected and more security everywhere. Especially in the airports! Nine Eleven will be remembered in history forever.

On September 11, 2001 my mom remembers my dad waking her up in the early morning about the breaking news. They thought it was just an accident at first until the second plane crashed into the second tower. After my dad went to work it was on the news that a plane crashed into the Pentagon and another plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. The passengers on that plane thought that it was heading for the White House, but the passengers stormed the cockpit and made the plane crash into the field. The second tower collapsed before the first one. A lot of lives were lost that day, many hero's saved lives, and a lot of things changed after that tragedy. There is many changes in security everywhere now. Especially at the airports. Innocent lives were taken, and families torn apart. I don't remember anything at all about that day because I was only 3 years old, but after seeing pictures, hearing stories, and watching videos you can't help but shed a tear. On May 2, 2011 we got our revenge though. I'm glad I remember that night. As a nation we have to stay strong and never forget.

On September 11, 2001 terrorists hijacked four planes that took off from American soil and sent the planes on a course for stand alone sites in our country. Three of the targets were hit. Two hit the World Trade Centers in New York City, one hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and the last plane was thought to be headed to the White House, but that plane never found its target. People onboard that plane realized what was happening and decided to take action. It is believed that some men on that plane stormed the cockpit and crashed the plane into a field in the Virginia/ Pennsylvania area. My parents remember this day very well and will always remember it and I will always remember what I hear about this day. My parents tried to keep the TV off most of the day when I was around. They thought that I might catch on and realize what was happening. This was one of the worst days on American soil. It is still by far the worst terrorist attack against the United States. It also changed the world. Air travel was affected the most by this day. It is the reason you have to go through all the baggage checks and metal detectors. September 11, 2001 or also known as 9/11 will never be forgotten in this country’s history.

My grandparent remember on that day that my she was at her work and all her coworkers were talking about it and when she got in the car all the radio stations were about the twin towers. As for the TV there were news channel talking about them and explaining how it happened. That day changed us citizen’s lives people were killed hurt and confused. Family members died that day all because of tourist. That day will always be remembered. Even after 12 years people can’t forget what happened. I think things haven’t really change people still remember what happened. People reflect what happened and what the peoples family have been through. Things in airport are more protected. There’s accually more security and more protection than there was then. People check what goes through what comes out they try their best to prevent that from happening again. What I think of that day is that we should have more protection and I am glad people have done stuff about it to prevent it from happening again. I think people should always remember this day because people’s family died and I can’t imagine what there family’s and close friend have been through.

Well, when 9/11 occurred I was just a little girl who didn’t care about anything but dress up and nap time. Even though I had no clue that 9/11 happened the whole world around me was hurt. Many people’s lives ended that day and many people took that time to reflect on themselves and change their lives for the better. On 9/11 my dad was at the grange getting fuel and heard about it from a close friend, and my mom was at work. 9/11 is a very sad painful day for many Americans’ it is a day to remember there lost family members and for others it is a day to be thankful of what didn’t happen to them and their family. If 9/11 hadn’t occurred I think that the crime rates might be lower and we would live in a better environment. On the other and though we might have worse ones because people might think that they can get away with a huge crime like that such as Osama Bin Laden did. 9/11 has made the U.S. stronger as a nation and we have improved our security and mamn7y other things since then. As a country we are stronger and better than we were before 9/11.

Yesterday was a tragic day for everyone including me. Back on September 11, 2001 a terrorist named Osama Bin Laden had two of his suicide bombers that crashed into the twin towers and killed a lot of people and wounded a lot of people. Dads and moms were killed leaving children sad and without parents. May 2, 2011 on this date the sick man Osama Bin Laden who led the terrorist attack that affected millions. When nine eleven happened I was only four years old. For something this big happen in my life is incredible. I watched the movie about how Osama Bin Laden was killed and was tracked it was very stressful just to watch. Those guys and girls who tracked that man and killed him are incredible, Courageous, and are probably one of the greatest war heroes ever. Since we have been tracking him for almost over fifteen years and we got him. My dad said he watched it happen on the television he said it was like cartoons that it was unbelievable. My mom was dropping me off at the baby sitter she said when she got back to school she wanted to back and get us because she felt sick to her stomach.

On September 11, 2013, I was only 2 but now that I am older and actually know what happened that day, I can agree that it was horrible. When I asked my grandmother, she said she had just gotten to work and that she hadn’t turned on her television that morning. When her coworkers told her about it she was very shocked. Just then, they watched the second tower come down. Things have changed a lot since 2001, especially at airports. There is a lot more security and more regulations. The Office and Homeland Security was also established by that tragic day. To me September 11, 2001 was one of the worst days in United States history and that all the people that died that day should have lived longer lives. I also believe that all the fire fighters and police officers that died that day were heroes and so were all the citizens that helped that day. I think that 9/11 was a very important day and should be remembered forever and so should all the family members that were killed. I believe that all Americans should honor all the men and woman that died that day and never forget how important they were to this country.

I know little about what actually happened at 9/11. I know that terrorist hijacked a plane and crashed it into the world trade center. I know that it happened September 11th, 2001. My mom said she was folding laundry watching the news when it happened. What has that day done to my family? Well my mom couldn't go across the dam to shop at WinCo because you weren't allowed to drive across the dam after 9/11. Also my dad was flagged at an airport because he had fertilizer on his clothes, and because of the new regulations that was counted as a possible threat. This days personal significance for me is low. It was a disaster/attack, it happens. Yes, many people lost their lives, and my condolences for said peoples relatives. However this will always happen, it has happened before and will continue. The increase in security from 9/11 will only help a little bit and won't help stop more attacking in my opinion.

On the day the twin towers were attacked my aunt was watching it on tv she wasn't sure what to think of it. The US has changed im not sure if id say it has got better. It seems to be the economy is getting worse. The attack of the twin towers made my family thimk differently about life knowing something bad could happend when you least expect it. Meaning we value life and love eachother. What I think about this day is that it was a very bad day for the people who lost there lives and bad for the people who lost people they love. I bet everyone wishes they would have know it would happen so they could save the people I think it changed peoples lives and prospectives. But there's many people who should be thanked for that day such as the firefighters things could have been much worse if it weren't for them. Comments are closed.
