Leadership Activities
Professional organizations (and likewise student organizations) are invaluable for people with similar careers and interests. Investigate at least one professional organization on the first web site. Then investigate a web site from the list of student organizations. (Your teacher may provide you with additional sites of student organizations.) Then answer the questions. Question 1: What is the value of belonging to a professional organization? Is the reason for joining similar to the value of becoming a member in a student organization? Why or why not? Cite specific examples in your answer. Question 2: What are some of the services provided by both student and professional organizations? What specific professional development opportunities are available? You will only have an initial response and no replies to other students. Some of you have forgotten the rules to DQing. The initial response SHOULD ALWAYS be 150 - 200 words and the reply to other students needs to be meaningful and substantial. Question 1. The values of belonging to a professional organization are that they help you find a job in your profession. They also help you with specific areas in your career. They can boost your career with the opportunity to contact with other professionals in your field. They even give you training opportunities. Being part of professional organization is very similar to being part of a student organization because they both help you with preparing for future careers and help to develop the skills needed to succeed. FFA is a great example because it helps you prepare for skills in the fields of farming and agriculture.

1. The value of belonging to a professional organization is being protected from the things they offer. Joining a student organization is something that you can get a scholarship off of or just activities like football you can play high school and get a scholarship to college then eventually go pro. Or in basketball you can do the same. These are two different things because professional organization is being protected and student organization is about scholarships.

1. The value of belonging to a professional organization is you get to compete with others. FFA allows you to learn speaking skills and you learn how to work with others. Student organizations are clubs and spend time with friends and meet new people. People want to join because they will have fun and they get to travel around to compete. They will also win money. I say the same reason for joining is similar to the value of becoming a member in a student organization is you get to learn speaking skills and you get to meet new people.

1. The value of belonging to a professional organization is that it helps you stay informed of new issues or new rules that you need to know about for your career. Yes the value is similar to becoming involved in a student organization because you also get to meet people involved in your same interests and can share information. DECA is a good example of this because the website has lots of links to help you connect to other members that you may not know.

1.You get to learn about what is going on in that organization. It could give you benifits and/or discounts. For example being a student will give you benifits. You will be able to graduate and maybe go to a college that you like. A classroom could be your organization. It is important to know what is going on so you know what to do on like math. If you are on a sports team, that sport coulde be an oganization. Your coaches would be your boss. Like in basketball you need to know what is going on around you so you know were the ball is. There are a lot of values that you could have in an organization.

1. When you belong to a professional organization more is expected of you. You are expected to provide more to the group with fundraisers and donations. Your ideas may be asked of you. But you should always we willing to help out with anything considering that you joined so you should be willing to help. It is different to join a professional organization than a student organization because you have more responsibility at the professional organization. You should help more and give more to whatever you are a part of. At student organizations you are expected to make mistakes but learn from them. At a professional group you should be more involved and keep up with what is going on. I think this because students can be children and we are definitely not perfect. Adults have more responsibility.

1 the value of belonging to an organization is that so you can accelerate in the ability of knowing what to do and how to do when your in an organization. People also join clubs or organizations to kind of actually get organized and also get paid or get noticed for everything they get involved in for an organization. For example FBLA is the largest and most oldest student organization there is right next to FFA because students love to get organized in those kind of events it is important to get involved because colleges like that stuff.
