I would have to say I strongly agree with every word that that website article had to say about how insulting, boring and irritating it is for someone to do that. I mean they don't intentinally mean to insult the audience listening to your powerpoint but the speaker should be able to be prepared ahead of time instead of just reading exactly whats on the powerpoint slide. Wich the audience can clearly read. Ill admit I have done that before but I exagerate about that topic so it isn't boring and insulting to the audience listening.

It's better to put less words on the power point being presented and just take a glance at the word on the PowerPoint and then reflect about it and talk about that subject than to just read it directly off the PowerPoint and not really talk about it, it will annoy the audience and have them not want to be there and listen to what you have to say which is not much if your just reading off the PowerPoint.

I would agree with the fact that most people find it difficult to read and listen at the same time. I, however, don’t have that much of an issue with it. I have been at several presentations where the person, or people, presenting just read their slides. I think that the article has a unique voice and it is pretty funny, but I would say that the article needs an example or two of what a good presentation looks and sounds like. Something that people who are making presentations could compare their presentations to. Having one would only strengthen the article and the ideas behind it. I know that I like to have something that I can evaluate my presentations with before I present, while there is still plenty of time to make changes and improvements. That way my presentations are the best I can possibly make them. I think that the article in question is fairly good, but it could be improved upon and I don’t agree with everything in it.

I would have to say that I agree with everything that this article talked about. When people read information off there slides its hard to understand why they're even talking in the first place. It personally seems to me like the presenter isn't really prepared and doesn't want to take the time to remember some information so they can exaggerate on their presentation topic but instead some presenters decide to rely on the words on each slide. When they read the information out loud to the audience off the board it makes us seem like were not clever enough to relies what the slides say and it just makes the whole thing boring. Making quick references to the board and having small ideas on them makes the slides more appealing to those in the room.

After reading this article and watching our entire class present for our final I agree with this article. It really shows a person when you are not prepared and don’t know what you are doing if you just read off of the screen while presenting. It is actually annoying because there maybe more information that goes with the topic and because you are just reading the board you seem like you don’t know the whole topic and you didn’t do any of it. Sometimes I did read when I presented our final because I didn’t practice it enough to really speak it strongly and accurately. It really affected my score too. I have seen people just look at the board when they are presenting and there partner that they did the presentation with did all the work and put phrases in the slide so you would have to elaborate on it more and you couldn’t do it because you didn’t know all of it and you look very stupid when you get up there and don’t know what you are talking about and you just read the board. People should just not read the board at all.

After reading this article, I agree with every word it says. Why have a presentation if you're just going to read from the board? Presentation slides are for the audience to get an idea of what you will be talking about. Once they see the slides, you can talk more about the information up on the board. Slides should be small ideas and you talk about it to inform the audience about what it means. I wasn't really prepared for my final. I had note cards, and read everything straight from them. If I practiced, I would have gotten a better grade. I read off of the board sometimes and I wasn't ready for the questions that came my way. I believe I could have improved by practicing and making changes to my presentation.

I completely agree with this article. I think it is very annoying when presenters read off the slides instead of actually presenting it to their audience. I also think this is irritating because an important part of presenting is eye contact. If the speaker is too focused on looking at the board and reading the slides, then they do not make eye contact with the viewers. To be honest I have done this, but the last presentation I did I made sure not to read off of the board or my note cards. The advantage of not reading off the board for me was that my presentation grade improved. I think that reading off your slides also shows that you are not prepared for your presentation. I have also heard a speaker read off the board and I think it makes their presentation very dull. If the presenter doesn’t read off the board, I feel like the presentation is more fascinating and I pay more attention during the presentation. So overall, I think that if everyone made sure they didn’t read off slides presentations would be more interesting.

I agree with this article. It just gets boring when you are listening to someone give a presentation using power point and they just repeat the words that are on the slide. If I watch a power point like this I stop listening to the speaker and just read the slides. I will admit I have done this before when I was giving a presentation. I have been trying my best to not do this. I know it is boring for the people that I am presenting to. It also shows disrespect when you just read it because it may make the people that you are presenting to think that they can’t read. I think that this was a really good article and it should make people think about their presentation before they give it. If you really want to keep everyone’s attention you can build in humor either using the slides or speaking. The more interesting the presentation is the better it will be received by the audience.

I strongly agree with the website. I have done this in the seventh grade. This is when my class and I were just getting into Powerpoints. We made a Powerpoint on ourselfs and what we liked and what hobbies we liked also. Some of us were good at making note cards and had note cards for the presentation but I didnt i just read off of the Powerpoint and I strongly agree with how it is boaring and i feel sorry for the people who has to listen.

I strongly agree with this article. I absolutely hate when I am watching a presentation and the speacker reads directly off of the slide it drives me insane. All I think to my self is “ goodness I can read.” I also think to my self “tell me something that I don’t know,” S o I think that reading from the slides is the worst thing that you could do cause the judges would like you to keep eye contact the intire time with in the presentation.

I think that they are right that if you say everything on the slide then there is no point in talking to anyone. I also think that if you put all you want to talk about on the slide then you might as well just tell them to read and ask them when they are done and then move on. Also it is very boring if you just read what it says on the slide because they can see they do not get more information. It may also seem that you are calling the dumb. The reason why is that it may seem like they can’t read what is on the board. Most can read what you are saying so you don’t have to read it for them. It makes it more interesting if you can say more thing than what is on the slide.

I agree that reading your PowerPoints slide is irritating. I think they should be responsible to look up the information and being able to explain the information and being able to explain the information on the PowerPoint so boring. If I were one of the judges for a business presentation I would mark the down. I have read the slides before and I was boring myself. I agree that you being a business presenter reading slides should know everyone is going to feel bored and not listening. You lose the audiences intrest in your presentation. I think reading you slides means you weren’t prepared. In other words you were to lazy to try. The best thing to do when you are getting ready for a presentation is to get notecards and write bullets to avoid reading the screen/PowerPoint. To get the best grade you can be prepared and make sure you know your presentation.

I completely 100% agree with this website. I can’t stand when people do this, I admit I have done this once or twice and when I think back on it, and it does not make any sense. Don’t put too much information on you Presentation keep it with seven bullets, seven words a piece, then describe each bullet not repeat it. During the Affordable Health Care Act PowerPoint a group read there bullets and it made me feel like they did not think we could read. I realize sometimes people get nerves I completely forget what they were going to say and just read what the board says but that is avoidable if you just make note cards and look at them when need. That is a fast organized way to do things that I strongly suggest. I really like the example the website gives, that is just as annoying people know things like what a garage is and what a kitchen is just like people know how to read information on a PowerPoint.

I like this article, it describes fairly clearly what a majority of presenters do when giving a presentation. It bothers me, but only a little, when people do this. However, it depends on how much they are doing it. If it is word for word it gets on my nerves a bit, if they try and incorporate other things at least a little more it isn't that bad. I personally try not to read the slides. I feel that my job of doing it is decent. During the finals I did try not to read the slides much, I only looked at them for reference on what I was currently talking about. However I did have a bit of actual speaking problems, but I didn't notice any in the actual presenting. So I agree with this article because it hits a nail on the head, people tend not to think of the presentation from an audiences perspective when thinking about how they are going to present it.

I think this article is true to how people feel when someone basically reads their power point to you. I did a bit of this during my presentation that we recently did and I used to do it every time i did a presentation. It does sound more professional when you say things that aren't on the slide. One thing I disagree with is the example using real-state agent as an example because i have actually seen a lot of them say obvious things but never any complaints. Other then that I completely agree with the article.. Comments are closed.
