The most useful thing this semester is knowing how to use Microsoft word and PowerPoint. In knowing these products of Microsoft, when you get into a career you will know how to use those and have a higher advantage than those people who don’t. Also you will be able to use those faster to get things done in class or homework.

Ashton, I agree with a lot of things you had to say. I think that being able to use word and PowerPoint are very useful skills that we should be grateful to have. With that said I think your response to this DQ was a very well thought out one.

Tabitha, your suggestion to other students is a very one. Listening to substitute teachers is something our class has had some trouble with this year, and we even have had this problem with some of our regular teachers recently. I think listening to the teacher is probably one of the most important things to do if you want to do well in class.

The most useful thing I have learned in this course would be how to effectively use Microsoft products, such as Word or PowerPoint. To get the most out of this class you have to pay attention and try and enjoy what you are doing. Sometimes that will be hard. You have to try anyway. I think I have improved greatly in using Microsoft products more effectively. I think this because before this course I had a good idea of what I was doing on them. After the course I had a certificate saying I knew what I was doing. That was a nice thing to earn. One way I have developed in this because I am a more confident typist, I have one of the highest WPM averages in the class. Another way I have developed is I am also more confident in using some of the various computer languages because of Computer Science Week. Finally, I feel better at troubleshooting or problem solving on a computer now because of taking this course. Like previously stated I now can use Microsoft products efficiently. Therefore if there is a presentation I can now use the programs quicker and get the job done in a better fashion. One problem I frequently ran into in the beginning was trying to find things on the programs themselves. Like on word, the drop boxes took me a bit to understand. This problem shouldn’t affect me anymore. I would say my career presentation. Mainly because I helped people understand what a security engineer was and how much the jobs varied.

I think that the most important thing I learned in the 1st semester is how to make an effective resume. A suggestion I have for other students is to make sure you get your DQ done and to turn in your assignments on time. I think where I have improved the most is in Word. I think this because the first time I took the word certification test I got a 200 or so. Eventually I passed with about a 712. I have grown in several areas including typing from the timed tests, coding from the hour of coding, and writing from all the DQ’s. Some skills I have developed that I can be useful for other classes are proper typing and how to use Word and Power Point more effectively. A few problems I have encountered is procrastinating at first when a projects are assigned or waiting too long to start my DQ’s. Next semester I am planning on starting my assignments earlier to make sure I am not waiting to the last minute to finish. So far I think my best assignment I have done would be my lawyer presentation. I spent a long time making the Power Point and then even more time practicing it over and over again.

Spencer, I think your comment about learning to make a good resume was a great idea of an important skill we learned this semester. It is something I didn’t think about when I typed my DQ this week, and is definitely an important skill and something I wish I had included in my initial response.

One useful thing that I learned this semester was how to do an animation on a PowerPoint. That is useful because without that knowledge I wouldn’t be able to do my Tribute. I would suggest to other students for them to pay attention in class and take all of the notes they need. I think I have improved the most in PowerPoint because when I first took the Certiport test I didn’t pass and the second time I did. One way I grown by this am by being more creative also, by liking to be more creative. Another way is because I really like typing now. I will use them in other classes because I need to be able to make presentations in health class. I really would like to pass the Word Certiport. I’m going to practice really hard and then find a day to take it again. I think my best work is my Tribute that I’m working on right now. This is also my favorite project because it’s me and I can do it how I want. I like when my own presentation moves me as much as I want it to move others.

The most useful thing that I learned in the 1st semester of digitools was how to use and run Microsoft Word. I think that was the most important because I use that program for every class. I can now type work faster and add special requirements to it knowing where they are located. My suggestion for other students to get the most out of this course is to listen to everything Mrs. Miller lectures on and keep your mouth shut. I think I improved the most on Microsoft PowerPoint. I think that because I find it easy to run and I also scored better on this test than I did on the other programs. I have developed and grown in this course in many different ways. I learned to type faster and now I can turn in assignments on time. I have also been able to help other students who have questions. Finally I can do assignments on Microsoft word confidently knowing that I know what I’m doing. The most important skill I developed in the class that I will transfer to all my other classes is learning how to type fast. I usually type in the mid-fourtys. The main problem I have encountered on the course is doing a mail merge. I plan to learn it all over again next semester so I can be better at it. I think the assignment this course that has been my best work was my Career presentation. I think that because I put a lot of work into it and got an A-. I also did a lot of research to finish that assignment.

1. All of the new things I have learned in PowerPoint, because I use that program a lot for other classes too.

Ryan, I agree passing the Word test with a 908 is impressive. I also agree that taking the review seriously is important. Your comment on using PowerPoint a lot is very true because we use it for lots of projects in science and Ag. Also in digitools obviously. Finally I think you are 100% correct in saying paying close attention to pass the Certiport tests at the end of the course is important because it looks good on a resume and it brings up your grade significantly.

I think that the most important thing that I have learned this semester was definitely more about Word. I did not know anything about word until this class and I believe that it will really help me in the future. The first thing that I would tell someone taking this course would have to be getting all of the work done on time and not getting behind in this class. I is really hard to catch up once you are behind. I have without a doubt improved most on my typing skills. I had never taken a typing course before and I am now a lot faster and more accurate then I was at the beginning of the year. I think that I have become more responsible in getting my work done; I also think that I have grown by staying on top of this class and not becoming behind. last is not to give up even if something is hard and to problem solve. The problems that I have discovered are forgetting that an assignment is due but I am going to become more organized and do better this next semester. The Certiprt PowerPoint is the thing that I did the best in because I worked really hard to pass and made sure I paid attention and understood the material.

Mahala, I can honestly say I have seen you grow as a typer. I remember when you started this year at 5 to 10 wpm and now you are at about 25 to 35 wpm. To me that is a great accomplishment. I also agree that you are good at turning stuff in and I can back that up by me saying I haven’t seen your name up on the board much or hardly at all. Keep up the good work.

The most useful thing I have learned through this course is how to use everything in Microsoft Word. Suggestions I would give other students to get the most out of this course is to do everything to the best of your ability, listen carefully, and most of all just do your assignments and make sure you turn them all in. Once you fall behind on assignments they catch up to you and then you cannot get caught up and you are getting zeros for the assignments. The area I think I have improved most is how to use Microsoft Word. At first I thought I knew how to use it like a pro but then I took the certification test and I had met my match. But over the year I have improved greatly and I hope to pass certifications in PowerPoint and Word as well. This is my most improved subject in the class because I practice a lot and I listened in class to learn how to use the program best. Ways I have grown in this class is for sure how to listen and pay attention. This class has also helped grow in being sure to turn in every assignment on time and done to the best of my abilities. I have also grown in waiting my turn to talk and raising my hand and finally I have grown in learning to be professional. Skills I have gained from this course are being professional and learning to be on time and efficient in what I do. I can use this in my classes because being professional means you are behaving in class and being on time and efficient means you turn in assignments. Problems I have encountered in this course are such as studying which I can overcome in semester two by just studying more. I think my best work in this class is my career PowerPoint. I think this is my best because I did my best to do this PowerPoint and I did lots of research. I also think I gave this project my best because I felt like I presented well and I was confident. The grade is not even the reason I chose this even though it was ok it was because of the effort I felt I gave.

The most useful things I have learned in digitools are how type quickly and how to effectively use Microsoft word. I recommend students listen to directions on all assignments and be able to type before fairly well before you are in digitools. I think I have improved in Microsoft word more than anything else this year. I think this because the first time I took the certiport test, I only scored about 250 points on Microsoft word. On my second test, I scored over 700 and certified in word. I have improved my typing speed by about 10 words per minute, and I have also learned a lot about how to use word and power point. I will use these skills to complete assignments in other classes. One problem I have encountered this semester was passing the word certiport test. This was difficult because there was a lot on the test and I had only seen the test one other time. I passed because I studied a lot and really wanted to certify. I think the certiport Microsoft word test was my best work this semester because it was a really difficult test that I studied for, and I certified on the test with a big improvement from my first attempt.
