What I learned from reading this article is that most of the people that use social media are men and women that are trying to seek out a job opportunity. I also learned that people make a lot of mistakes which make them usually not get employed or hired for that job. Also it tells us some helpful tips on how to land your first job. It says establish an online presence, what it means by that is creating a profile on a professional website such as LinkedIn. It makes the professionals notice you more often. Also the last thing I learned was that there are multiple things or jobs you can do that pay well and you don't need a degree for. Such as being a web developer. If you are a web developer you can get paid around $75,000 which is only a median salary.

Tanner, I disagree with you when you said that most of the people using social media are using it to seek out job opportunities. A lot of people use social media nowadays as entertainment, especially a lot of people who are too young to get a job along with people who already have a job.

I think social media is a big part of your career and what an employer will think of you. As this article states …social media profiles give away more information about a person’s character and personality than many people would ever imagine. I think that statement will really change how people use their social media accounts and what they post because I personally wouldn’t want my whole friend list knowing everything about me. One thing that I disagree with is how some people think the best thing to do is to just stay off social media because having those accounts shows that you are current with the world and it could even seem that you are open to more things to an employer.

Anna I disagree with what you said about how the persons information could give away information but if you think about it then you would be able to have more of it secured because the internet isn't taken as a joke. People tend to use more codes to make sure that they can't get hacked or so people can't see their information well their personal information because they don't want to get hacked. So I think that the people would have more codes to make it so they can't get hacked and that their personal information is secured in good hands.

Anna I disagree with the part about going to college. I mean its good to go to college but if you already know what you are going to do then you don't need to go.

For the first article I believe that a person should have their own personal life for social media, because they might do something that might be some sort of click bait which could lead to a bad website that could ruin their reputation for having a good record. Or they have different company that want that person for good and bad reasons. And that company that wants to hire him might not want to fight for the same person. And that I think that they if there are to many company's that want the same person I would not fight for them even if they might be good for the company. But they might have something that they did from 5 years ago so if they did something that could have changed them. From what they had done and that they could have a huge difference from what they where. And they could use a different set of rules but they could have a different type of system. Then he/she could still have a horrible type moral. But they might need to have two get a different type of person. Their might need a type of job to get something good in their life.

In the first article, I learned that social media is a valuable tool to men and women looking for employment. What a person says or does can affect what kind of job they get. A lot of people are not aware of employers viewing them through their social media profiles. Some people think that the solution is to not have a social media site but that would make you seem unsociable and not with the latest news. You should try to find a good spot in the balance of social media, don’t post anything that should be kept private, and be careful who you friend and what they tag you in.

I Disagree with the second article because if you start a blog, some people would ignore it and only like companies that are looking for a specific worker might pay attention to it.

Brooke, I like a lot of your DQ, but I disagree with what you said about being a plumber or bricklayer without going to college. Those jobs require a lot of training and knowledge. Being able to hold down a job and do well at your job means you need to be able to understand it and be able to do it successfully. I think that college or some type of schooling for your job is necessary for some of the jobs that you listed.

What I learned from the article “How social media can affect your career” is that social media can affect your career if you have posts that can affect your job or people might think different about you. People use the media to find a job or to connect with one another. Social media profiles give away more information about a person’s character and personality than many people would ever imagine. Avoiding social media can send the wrong message to employers and they might think that you are not a person who is current with the latest trends in technology. You shouldn’t post or tweet information that is private. The friends you chose to hang out with on social media can affect how others see you. Expanding your reach through blogs and websites can also help your job hunt.

What i learned from this article is that anything you say/do can be used against or help you get a job and not to talk bad about the company, boss, or co-workers even if they're not on your friends list because someone could tell them and easily find out if you did or not. Also it’s better to have a social media account because if you don’t and they find out that you don't that could lead a bad impression because they may think that you're not adept at keeping up with changing times. Another thing that i learned is that you should make an account on a professional site such as linkedin even if you have little work experience because it will give employers a better look on you. Another thing i learned from this article is that you should join a professional organization because this will improve your chances of landing a job.

Jack i disagree with you because most of the time some company s don't use any sort of social media other than emails to go and communicate with. And some company s might not care what their workers do at all.

Jack, I disagree with what you said about if you don't have a social media account then they could have a bad impression on you because your not adapt at keeping up with changing times. I disagree with this because maybe people don't want to have accounts because maybe they could possibly get hacked or be taken advantage of. Or maybe they don't have a way to access social media because they don't have enough money to get a social media device.

Jack I disagree with what you said about it is good to have social media because some people don't want to have their profile out for people to see. If you don't have social media that is just a way to get in more contact with your future employers and get to known them face to face instead of just though social media.

What I learned is that more people use social media to find a job and get employed. I personally wouldn’t want my whole friend list knowing everything about me. Social media is more than an entertainment to the world, it's a source to living and finding better things to get employed, because people use social media to get employed is a good reason why we need to have it our world today. That a person says or does can affect what kind of job they get. A lot of people are not aware of employers viewing them through their social media profiles. I agree that you shouldn’t post anything that is personal and private. I also agree that you should have passwords on everything and make it where people you don’t know share your stuff. When on social media you should be smart and not post things about drugs and being at nightclub. I learned that social media is a good way to get a job then just walking around hoping to find a job opening. I disagree when people say we shouldn’t have social media because i’m sure they use it themselves to contact other people, but it's not just using it for texting people always to see what's going on around the world.

In the first article it talks about how what you put out on social media can affect you and your career/future career. I agree with this because if you post inappropriate content on your social media it reflects back on who you are as a person. Not all employers like to see their employees posting or liking inappropriate content on social media because it could make them and their company look bad. I disagree that people can avoid the problem by staying off social media because you can just avoid the problem by being smart about what you post on social media. Also not having any social media might make your boss wonder if you know what is going on in the world around you.

Olivia, I think you have a great opinion, but I disagree to how you said that maybe jumping right in to an internship could be better than going to college because you don't need a degree for it. I think that the person should do both, gives them more opportunities in the future so they don't have to go back to school later because it didn't work out.
Brooke

Olivia, I would have to disagree with you about the college degree thing in the third paragraph, some people don’t go to college because they can’t afford it. It isn’t easy for some people to get the right schooling they need. You can also experience being on your own just by fending for yourself and getting a job that doesn’t require a college degree. Some people also are not as smart or intelligent as they’d wish they were.

I agree with some of the first article. I think that people should watch what they say or post. Like the article said, employers will look at your social media. It is a way that most men and women look for jobs. I disagree to how some people said that not having social media is the way to go. Most employers like to see if you are in touch and I think that social media is a good way to stay in touch, but you should always be careful of what you post.

With what i read on how social media affecting your career i believe that it does have a huge impact on your job. You really have to be careful on what you say on social media. Having a job comes with a lot of responsibilities. Use it to connect with other and help your business.

In the first article I read I learned that what you put on social media can affect your life forever, if you put something on your Facebook page or Instagram that is inappropriate, people might get a bad impression of you. I agree with this article because I do think that employers look their employees up on social media and they might see a side of you that is not the best. But a good thing about social media is that you can post things that you are proud of, successes you have had, and games you have played in.

I agree with the first part of your article, but the second part not so much. Though you should get experience, you don't need it, and don't need to be active on social media, it would only just help. Finally, though you can make a living on a job that doesn't need a degree, there way less job options that can get you that much money, and you may find that doing those jobs that don't require a degree may be difficult because you may not know how to do it well, like if you went to college and specialized in that field.

In the article, How social media can affect your career, I agree with what is said. I think that nobody stray away from social media since it is very important to us now, but you should know not to post dumb stuff that could offend people, and possibly mess up your entire life. Just by having a social media account and keeping up to date, makes you look good from an employer’s perspective.

I agree with part of the first article. People should watch what they post and what they say on social media because like the article said employers are going to look at social media. Some people say that just not having social media is the way to go and I disagree with that because employers like to be able to get ahold you and keep in touch and social media allows you to do that. You just have to pay attention to what you do on your social media so that people what to employ you.

I learned that you shouldn’t post things you don’t want your employer to see. So don’t put things on you social media that you could regret. And make sure that other friends of yours don’t post inappropriate things on their social media either. Also if you post good things on your social media then you could get a good review from the employer. So post good things instead of things that could hurt your future.
Evan

I disagree with some of you said. I think that is your friend wants to post bad things on there social media, first you should try to stop it, and if they don't, then don't let them tag you in a post, and try to stay away from them is social media. Also, going to college makes it more likely for an employer to hire them, even if they don't need the degree.
I think social media is a large influence on your future career and what a future employer will think of you. The article says social media profiles give away more information about a person’s character and their personality than many people would ever think to imagine. I think that statement can and will change the way people use their accounts on social media. I think it will change the kinds of posts they make because I wouldn’t want every one of my online friends to know a lot of personal information about me. Something that I disagree with is how some people think staying off of social media is the best choice because it shows that you’re more open to things. Comments are closed.
