This is a very simple DQ. Go into last weeks DQ and read the comments that were written to you. Answer the questions that are posed by anyone. Answer the question in your post this week. NO questions - keep checking back through the week as other students finish their DQ's from last week.

Emily great question! You need to make sure your expressions match what you are saying because you don’t want confusion. You want to be as clear as possible so using expression it can stand more clear. But if you do wrong expressions its going to be more hard to understand you! Does that make sense? Expressions aren’t as important as it is to speak clearly. You need to make sure you are speaking good and clearly then you can add expressions. Now you have to be engaged with the person you’re talking to so if you use expressions to easier for the other person to understand. Emily if that didn’t answer your question please let me know! :) I hope that did! Great question again!

Mrs. Miller I did not see your comment there! But great question! Some ways to save on written communication is first limit yourself. If you are working for a business you shouldn’t be the one to be paying for the letter every time. But let’s say you do have to then in that case like I said limit yourself. Now that might seem hard to do but when you’re writing your letter be as descriptive as possible. Write all you can in this letter so when whoever replies’s back they themselves will not need another letter back from you. Great question again!

As a business how can I save money? With the world concerned about financial situations, don't you think a company needs to save money where they can?

Maddie asked me what some disadvantages of written communication are. Written communication can be hard and time consuming because you don't get an immediate response. It is also costly because of ink, paper, and stamps. Another problem with written communication is that you can't hear tone of voice or other forms of verbal communication. So you have to be careful of your wording. The other question I was asked was what important elements of written communication need to be included when writing. I would say that it depends on what your purpose if writing is, whether it's for business or personal reasons. It's important that you get the point across clearly and quickly, especially for business.

My question was posted my Mrs. Amy Miller. She asked what my URL’s were, in response I say I got my information from the following website: Wikipedia. They were: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marketing, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_communication, and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engagement. The positive part about using Wikipedia is that everybody can post on it so there is a lot of information. The negative part is also that everybody can post on it, so some of the information you are using could be false or not true. When I did last weeks DQ, I tried to think about what the words Marketing, Communication, and Engagement in Business really meant. When I read the information on Wikipedia I knew that in made sense of how they described Marketing, Communication, and Engagement. I thought the hardest one to find was Engagement so I just thought of the definition of the word engagement and thought of how it could be used in a business. When I thought about it for a while it made more sense.

Havin, that is a grand question. I think it would be the same as face time. They both have to deal with talking face to face but over a web cam. They both involve a web cam and talking to people and seeing their faces but you’re nowhere near each other. The face time might be easier and more accessible at times than video conferencing over a computer but it may have bad connections and it is already a bad thing for the computer to. So the face time on the iPad is basically the same as video conferencing. The face time seems more appropriately used for talking with friends. Video conferencing is more so for business deals and presentations. Businesses use them to make deals and talk over seas with possible clients, Face time is used by teens to talk with friends, also businesses may use them to talk to fellow coworkers but that’s it really. Thanks for the great question I really had to think on it.

Mrs.Miller you make a great point when you say that verbal coms. is the one form of communication that we have the most difficulty with. The negatives of verbal communication is that you could stumble on words, miss pronounce word or someone can miss interrupt what you say like horror house and you know :). The way that electronic coms. have changed the face of business because you no longer have to be in the same city, state, country or continent to have a business meeting it all can be done over Skype or another form of video chat.

Zoe those are some really good questions. The answer to your first question is no you can’t just use nonverbal communication because nonverbal communication is things such as hand gestures and posture. The second question also got me thinking and that answer is no also sign language is a verbal communication even though it’s not talking it still counts as a verbal communication.

Good questions Mrs. Miller. Some examples of different cultural body languages are eye contact, handshakes, greetings, personal space, small talk and gestures. In the United States and Canada, intermittent eye contact is extremely important in conveying interest and attention. As for greetings, in America we have the standard greeting: “Hello, my name is..” with a handshake. For personal space in some cultures it is normal to be “in the bubble”, while some other cultures require much more space than in America. With gestures, everything that is done in America can mean something completely different in another culture. Sometimes just a thumbs-up can mean the same thing we think it does or it could be offensive to somebody somewhere else.

Jack, there are many different types of video conferences. When you video conference there are different tools that some video conferencing systems use. For example one system can use a different microphone, camera, mouse, computer, and keyboard then another system and they may be ran a little different but they all have the same basic principle of you can have meetings and fact-to-face conversations when your miles apart.

Austin asked me to tell more about how the electronic communication is efficient, fast, and easy to use. First off if someone in the business wants to talk to someone they can just send a quick e-mail or another form of a message from anywhere they want to. It is easy to use because you can send the same message to multiple people at once without having to tell people over and over again. Another reason is because sometimes people can be misheard and people will misunderstand them but this way they can read the message multiple times if need be so they don’t have a miscommunication or a misunderstanding of what they want to say. It is also a great way to be able to just send a message and continue to work until you get a message back so you aren’t away from your work area. Think about it most of the conversations you have with your friends is more than likely a form of electronic communication.
