Open the PDF file "Business Communication" read the document. Be prepared for a quiz on the information you read in class on March 12th.
In the document it talks about the different methods of Business Communication. Pick three (3) of the methods and research them on the Internet finding three (3) different sources of information about the types of business communication you have selected. Write a 200-300 word essay about your three methods of business communication including the history, pros/cons, tips for success, and most common uses in the business world. You MUST site your sources by providing the URL for each of the Internet sites you visited. Respond to ONE student about their essay with a "Wow I didn't know that" and a "Question - I don't understand or need more clarification on this". I will also be responding through the week to students in this form so if you need ideas follow my lead, but don't use the same information I have post. Everyone will need a response post so please TRY not to post to a student who another student has already made a post about their essay. You may post to students I have posted to, but please don't repeat my "WOW or Question" When finished with the week everyone should have an essay written and one post from another student. (possibly a post from me as well.)

One of my methods is communication this often is sharing the information also feeling and ideas in the business world they use this to exchange stuff like emails with their employees. This is one way that company’s keep in touch or they just are an online company. Lack of Trust there is a problem with this because your employees could not trust worthy so you don’t want to talk about something in a meeting then you could just send a message or email or something like that. Electronic communication is one of the easiest ways to talk to people when you are not beside them. This is used in business for talking back in forth if people are out sick or not close to your office so you can call them and that’s one way to talk to people in communication for in the business category.

Wow I didn’t know that trust could be a part of business because I thought that the businesses only wanted to make more profit from their merchandise. I don’t understand the part that says or they are just an online company and that your share feelings and emails.

One of the methods I chose was face-to-face meetings because you build stronger and more meaningful business relationships. There is more communication between the workers and bosses. Body language is important in face to face meetings because it shows your body posture and how you feel about the meeting. When you are all in the same room, it encourages people to participate and it also clarifies meaning. Another method I chose was presentations because you project on image of confidence, credibility and competence. When you speak, you are the face of your organization. You want people talking about you, your organization and you presentation. Another method I chose was emails because it is an easy way to reach mobile customers and it’s an effective way to keep customers informed. You can send email coupons and you can see in-store sales. It’s easy to customize and integrate into other marketing tactics and email marketing is inexpensive. 85 percent of US retailers consider email marketing one of the most effective customer acquisition tactics. 42 percent of retailers email messages were opened by consumers on their smartphones and 17 percent were opened on tablets. Emails are free for the consumer, whereas texting may incur a charge.

I found it interesting how you said that body language is important in face-to-face. That is something I have never really thought about, but it is true. I also found it interesting how you included percentages about email marketing. Emails do play a big part in business because it is a way of advertising your product/business to customers.

Three types of business communications are verbal communication, written communication, and electronic communication. Verbal communication starts by at least age 4. The pro of verbal communication would be that you are able to get your point across clearly to the person you need to talk to, but one con could be that people might not listen to what you’re saying or they might forget what you said. A few tips to use for verbal communications would be to make sure the other person understands what you’re saying and make sure you get your point across. The most common uses for verbal communications could be a meeting or a conversation in person. A second type of business communication is written communications. Written communications began in Mesopotamia and Mesoamerica. The pro of a written communication would be that you can write something and edit it the way you want it to sound, but the con of this would be that it can be time consuming to have to write out what you need to say. To be successful with this method, make sure to write down exactly what you need to say so there is no miscommunication. A common example of this could be a letter. A third type of business communication is called Electric Communication. This method was created when telephones were invented. The pro of electric communications is that it is quick and easy and a con would be that someone could mishear what you said. To be successful with this method make sure to always speak clearly so you will be understood. A common use of this method would be a phone call.

Cool! I didn't known that written communication started all the way back in Mesopotamia and Mesoamerica. How do you think that they started it and how they delivered the letter or whatever it was? I agree with how you said that when you are communicating a lot of the time they forget what you said so you need to get your point across.

The first one I choose is written communication, the second is verbal communication, and the third is B team communication. Written communication involves any types of message that makes use of the written word. It’s one of the most important and effective of any mode of business. Sharing of information between individuals working within a business need to effectively employs readily understood spoken words. B team communication is a form of communication that exists in the cyber classroom where solid teamwork and collaboration results in excellent grades academia. It's basically a group of people work as a team the whole time to finish a project. Some pros are you can insist on being the bigger person and you forgiving others. Come cons are that people can’t see your emotions, and that you could spell something wrong and it can change what you are saying. One pro for verbal communication is you're able to express yourself more clearly and one con is you can talk to much and confuse the person. Some pros for b team communication would be the team could get it done fast and another one would be that the team can create a better project. Some cons would be that the team doesn't get along, another would be that there are too many ideas and it all don’t fit on the project.

One of the methods that I chose is face-to-face meetings because in a business scenario you can build stronger and more passionate/meaningful relationships with your bosses and other workers. Body language is also important because it can help show how your feel about the meeting and it can also help others get more involved. The second one I chose was written communication, I chose written communication because it is very important to a business. It helps with sharing information with multiple people at once it even just one person. The last form of communication that I chose is electronic communication because it is one of the easiest ways to communicate with someone who isn't sitting next to you. It's effective because you don't have to worry about not being able to meet with someone about certain things.

Courtney I did not know anything about the written communication until I looked at your response. One thing confused me when you said it's effective because you don't have to worry about not being able to be at the meetings. Why did you say that? And I also liked when you said that your body language is important for jobs because it shows how you feel about certain things in the meetings.

I chose verbal communication, Electronical communication and complex messages. I chose those 3 things because I think they are the most important things we need to know about getting interviewed. The most common one I chose would be verbal communication because business people don't like doing their interviews on the phone because they can't tell if they get nervous or if they get scared while talking infront of people because when people talk on the phone it isn't nerve racking. Because your not face to face with the person you being interviewed by. I also think that electronically communicating can be a good way to communicate because if people want to get a certain job and they are out of town and can't make it to the job to get interviewed than they could just face time or call but it also is a down fall because if people aren't nervous over text and call and they go to that certain job and can't talk to people as well in person some bosses will fire you if you can't talk infront of people. Complex messages are messages that let you break down important things such as complicated conversations, it let's you talk more about a certain thing in the conversation.
Alyssa

I was interested in complex messages. I didn't know what that was before this! What would you consider to be a complicated conversation? Also when would you use complex messages? I'm interested in what a complex message is and I didn't know it was a thing, but it would help if you could clarify how it is used or more about what it is.
The first type of business communication that I will talk about is verbal communication which is very important in a business. You need verbal communication to let people know what is going on also it would be helpful if you had a meeting or something. It is also easy when you are in different types of situations because you could be talking to people from other countries or different ages. The way you talk can also show what type of person that you are and if you don’t communicate properly then someone could misunderstand and something bad could happen.

The three types of business communication that I chose are verbal communication, written communication, and electronic communication. Verbal communication is speaking to one another spoken words. It is important in businesses to be able to verbally communicate with your colleges, your boss, and/or customers. How you verbally communicate with people can reflect on you and your business or organization.

The three types of business communication that I have chosen are verbal communication, written communication, and non-verbal communication. Business communication is something that promotes a product, service, or organization. It relays information within a business or is an official statement from a company. Verbal communication consists of the use of words in delivering the message you want to say. This is one of the two major forms of communication. This type of communication starts around age 4. A pro is that it is a really simple way to get the message out, a con is that sometimes people misunderstand what you say. The most common use of this type of communication is in something such as a meeting or conference. A tip is to make sure that you say exactly what you mean so something doesn’t get taken the wrong way. Next is written communication. This includes the traditional side of communicating which includes writing letters, emails, text messages, and anything conveyed through writing. This is used in formal business communications and issuing legal instructions. Written communications began in Mesopotamia. A pro to using this is that you can edit it before you send it so I comes out perfect, a con is that it can take up much more time than something such as verbal communication. A tip for this is to make sure that when you type something it doesn’t sound rude because they can’t hear the tone of your voice. The last form is Nonverbal communication. This could be used in a physical way by things such as body language, facial expressions, eye contact, or gestures such as a wave or smile. A pro of this could be facial expressions because then someone can get what you’re saying without you having to actually speak, a con could be that somebody could take something the wrong way. This is mostly used when you are waving hello to somebody. A tip for this would be to watch your body language.

Wow Alyssa I did not know that verbal communication starts around 4 years old and that written is a lot longer to get around from place to place and that it is less effective than electrical communication. And that there are little use for non-verbal communication.

Alyssa, I didn't know that written communication started in Mesopotamia! I don't even know how to pronounce it, but don't you think that even if you're able to go back and change what you wrote to make it perfect, sometimes they could end up messing it up more and not know it which can make it inefficient?
Maddy

Alyssa, I think it is cool that you put in there that communication started in Mesopotamia. Also that communication started around the age of four I thought that it would start a little bit earlier than that. I agree with what Sydney about even if you were to go back and change it, it could just make it more confusing for them if you try to hard.

Their are are many different ways of communicating with other for a job and or just for a social communication one type of communicating is verbal communication this is when they have a one on one talk with someone this works with online contacts and some one that is just talking to someone. One go thing about verbal communicating is that you get to learn more about who they are just by the way they talk. But some times it can be very impractical for some jobs that require no phone or talking with others. A different one is the Written communication is sorter for mail and passing notes around. Its good for a job with your friends. But very hard to use daily. Then the last one is the Electronic communication which is quite possibly the best for work and talking to others because of all the access that gives all the people in the work place or just going to talk with others. Some of the different things that are good is that it is the most used way of communicating with each other which can work both work and talking with friends. But when doing so it makes it harder to tell if someone is being sarcastic but they won't know that they get mad or you can be fired.

I don't understand when you said "A different one is the Written communication is sorter for mail and passing notes around" it would help if you could be more clear on this because i dont understand what you are trying to say. Also next time i would have 1 line in between your comment and the cites you used. not 29 spaces then 1 then 5.

The three different types of communication I chose was, Verbal, Non-Verbal and Written. These communications are something that business will use for meetings and even products. It is very important to make sure you use these in the right way. The Verbal communication is a very important skill you should have if you’re going into business. It’s something that is very big in business and is used in many different ways. This way can show how your organization is and how you are. A Pro of this is that you are able to express yourself better and be able to get it out right then and there. A Con is that you can talk too much, or someone might misunderstand what you’re saying, so you should be as clear as possible. Next is Non-Verbal, this communication can give you more clues or how meaningful something is over Verbal communication sometimes. This includes facial expressions or even how far away you are from the person. A Pro of this is that sometimes it’s an easier way to present it than it is in words because the things you can do non verbally vs verbally. A Con is sometimes it’s harder to stop nonverbal communication. It can be continuous and then in verbal communication you know when you have stopped or you can make yourself stop. Lastly is Written communication. This communication is something that has actually become more popular over the years. It is essential for small business people. It is something that has just developed over time. A Pro about written is it is more precise and it can put an even better image of your business, helps with legal defenses. A Con is that it takes time and if you were to need feedback right away it’s something that sometimes you won’t get it right away. These communications are big skills that a lot of business look for, it is a way to help their product and their company, so I suggest you learn to be good with these communications.

The first form of communication that I chose was video conferencing. It started in 1964 with the picture phone, and developed into a viable tool for business communication. Good things about video conferencing are it is very convenient, can do it anywhere, and can be used to share documents, or projects. Some disadvantages of video conferencing are missing visual clues or body language. This makes it harder to engage with someone, making it harder to concentrate on what is being said. There’s also time delays and computer problems. You can help counteract this by having a good system and a stable internet connection.

Evan, I did not know that video conferencing started as early as 1964. One thing that I might need clarification on is the invention of email, you said 1962 that seems very early to me. I agree that face-to-face communication builds relationships and trust.

Wow, good job Even. I did not know that video communication started that early. we have progressed so much from there don't you think. i did not all the way understand is how is email cheap. don't you have to buy a computer and have all the hardware for it for being able to access it. computers alone are a lot of money. just a penny for a thought. good job Even

The 3 types of business communication that I have chosen to discuss are electronic communication, written communication, and verbal communication. Electronic communication is communication using electronic media. Advantages of this are wide coverage, low cost, and it is fast. Disadvantages are technology constantly changing which can cost a lot. Electronic communication is used in planning and required to process information like emails and video conferencing. It is a modern way to communicate.
Evan
2/17/2017 11:03:58 pm
Danner, something that I didn't know is that verbal communication is not legally valid. Another thing that I don't think about much with electronic communication is how expensive it can be to keep up with modern technology, and how written communication can be more clear and precise than verbal communication. Well done!

Three types of business communication that I have learned are written communication, non-verbal communication, and verbal communication. Business communication promotes a product, organization, or service. This is information within a business or is for a company like and official statement. Verbal communication is when you use words to deliver the message that you want to say. Verbal communication is one of the major ways of communicating. Verbal communication starts when kids are around age 2-3. A pro to verbal communication is that you are able to communicate what you want to who you want. A con to this is that if you don’t say it clearly or if someone doesn’t hear it clearly there could be a miss understanding. A tip is to double check that what you said is clearly heard and that you say it clearly. Next is non-verbal communication, this can be used physically, such as body language, facial expressions, eye contact, or gestures. A pro for this is that you can tell someone what you want to tell them without speaking. A con for this is if you are trying to say something they could take it the wrong way or not understand what you are saying. A tip for this would be to be careful about what you expressions are like because anyone could take it the wrong way. The last way of communication is written communication. Written communication is things such as writing an email, letter, or a text message. Written communication is used in business a lot. A pro is that you can easily get messages to anywhere in the world. A con is that instead of just being able to say what you want you have to write it out and it can take more time. A tip is to make sure you have everything proof read so when you send something that is written nobody gets confused.

The methods that I chose are verbal communication, non-verbal communication, and written communication. The first type of communication would be verbal communication, a pro of this is its good when you are able to express yourself clearly and be sophisticated when doing so. Another pro of verbal communication is for information, this is because without the presence of any means of communication it will be very hard to express the exact information of others. A con of verbal communication is it can create misunderstandings, usually when two individuals are having a conversation they can have some misunderstandings during the time that they are talking. The most common use of verbal communication is in conversations or when presenting something. The second type of communication that I chose is non-verbal communication, a pro of this is complementary, non-verbal cues complement a verbal message by adding to its meaning, and for example you could pat somebody on the back that you offended as a way of saying sorry to him/her. A con would be continuous, it’s possible to stop talking in verbal communication, but it is generally not possible to stop non-verbal cues. A tip for success would be use good eye contact, when people fail to look others in the eye, it can seem as if they are trying to hide something. The third type of communication is written communication, a pro of written communication would be accountability, and written documents are always signed so if anything is wrong then it is linked to the person who is responsible for their actions. A con of written communication is slow and time consuming, it takes time to get committed to writing and transmitted to its destination. A tip for success would be less is more, in writing as in virtually every other kind of writing, concision matters.

The three types of communication that I chose is written communication, non-verbal communication, and verbal communication. This is used in formal business communications and issuing legal instructions. This includes the traditional side of communicating which includes emails, text messages, writing letters and anything conveyed through writing. A pro using this is that you can edit it before you send it so it comes out correctly. A con is that it can take up way more time than say, electronic communication. A tip that I suggest is to make sure that when you type something it doesn't sound like you’re trying to hurt someone because you may think you say it in a nice way but they may think that you are sounding mean or something. The second one is non-verbal communication. This could be used in a facial expression, eye contact, a physical way, or gestures. A pro of non-verbal communication is a gesture. You can smile or wave at them without out using words and they can know what you’re saying. A con would be that someone could take something personally. If they think your body language looks like it is slightly annoyed by them but you’re really not, they could take it the wrong way. The last one I am going to talk about is verbal communication. It consists of the use of the use of words in delivering the use of words you want to put out there. This is one of the two major forms of communication. This type of communication starts when you are very young, about age 4-5. A pro about this type of communication is that it is an easy way to get your message out there. A con is that someone might misunderstand what you’re trying to say. A tip would be to be precise on what you mean exactly. One small mistake can make a huge difference. Comments are closed.
