Some problems that i have had with a previous teacher is that they did not do a good job at telling us the information that we needed to pass a test or assignment. And you might be thinking that "oh he probable didn't study for the test or did the work." no I did study for the test and did the assignments it just that they did not do a good job at explaining what we needed to do then they would go back to their desk and let us figure out what we had to do then at the end of class they would go around and check to see if the class had finished the assignment or not and then they would go and give it a grade that would either be a fail, 50%, or pass. Then on the tests they had a weird system that would try to make it harder for us and it did but they did it in such a way that it made it harder than what it should have. And if we failed it which most would first time we had to do it again along with a different test that would add up until the last month which was just all the test that you did not pass.

Mason, I thought your response was relatable. Some teachers aren’t very good at explaining assignments. Instead of making your response all about how they didn’t explain the assignment well, you could talk about what you can do next time in that situation so that you will understand how to do the assignment.

Mason, I didn't agree with your answer. I think that it sounded like you were just blaming your teacher for doing bad job which doesn't sound good in an interview. You should take some of the responsibility yourself. Also if you read one of the websites it says that the interviewer is testing you to see if you will talk badly about your boss, like you did. You should answer this question with no, I have not had any issues. Or talk about some misunderstandings that you have had if you really think it is necessary to talk about it. But talking badly about your teacher or boss and blaming everything on them is not a good answer.

Mason, good response. I believe that a better way to word what i believe you were trying to say would be to say more on how it could be better, and less on what they did wrong and why you have an issue. Think in the perspective of the teacher or boss, how would you explain it and what would you have done. And remember that with all downfalls there has to be an upside. Write about what you think is or want your upside to be. I would have just worded the writing so it is more fluently read.

Mason, any employer is not looking to hear your sob story, but how you pushed through it and will deal with it better next time. I'm sorry if that sounds blunt but it is one of the facts of life. You can't go around blaming everyone else, it is a sign of immaturity and clearly tells the employer you should not receive this job nor any job until you learn the ways of life. Dealing with people you don't like, and pushing through regardless

Mason i understand what your going through but its not all the teachers fault just because you missed something or you just don't understand. I feel like you should not wait until a test to see if you are wrong you should ask soon as possible. So don't wait until the last minute to ask for help.

Some issues that I have had with a teacher is that they don’t explain the instructions on an assignment well or that they don’t explain all the instructions like in group work. When they don’t explain it’s really hard to understand what to do. Other issues are like test in science because you don’t understand what they want you to do and the teacher just says that you have to figure it out by yourself. Some teachers aren’t good teachers and they probably can’t teach. Some issues that I have had with a boss is that they say that we didn’t do anything today and you mostly did most of the work. Some issues is that they don’t like you and are mean to you. Another issue is that they don’t let you go to a doctor appointment and they sometimes won’t let you take at least 3 days of vacation.

Gustavo, I thought your response was good. One way you could improve it is by not saying a teacher is a bad teacher. This might make the people who are interviewing think that you are a disrespectful employee or that you don’t work well with your peers. You could also improve on this response by talking about what you learned from these bad experiences.

Gustavo, I feel like you answered the question a little harsh. You can't always put the blame on others in life, eventually you'll have to take some of that responsibility on yourself. Any employer will look on the accusations, as you being an immature teenager who does not deserve the job you are applying for. They want someone who will be able to maneuver around these problems and push through enough to get your work done, even though you may have a dislike for them.

I feel like you did a very good job but its not always the teachers fault. the teacher cant just tell you don't understand. You need to go and tell them that you don't and then they will try and help you.

I have had a few problems with my bosses and teachers. One issue I had with a teacher was that they took a few weeks to enter in our test grades. Their excuse for this was that they had a lot of other work to grade. This was affecting multiple students because they had a low grade in this class and they were relying on this test to raise their grade. In the end we were patient and understood that teachers have a big workload and sometimes you have to deal with a bad grade temporarily. Another problem I have had was bad communication with a teacher. They didn’t explain the assignment very clear which led not only me, but also other students to do the assignment the wrong way. This situation taught me that I should always know exactly what I need to do and if I am confused I need to ask questions so that I will do my assignment the right way. One conflict I had with a boss was that our communication was unclear which led me to be a few minutes late to work. She texted me when she was at my house to pick me up for work and I didn’t receive her text because my phone was broken. From this experience I learned that you need to always have good communication so you and your boss know what is going on.

Olivia, I thought your response was good. You talked about some misunderstandings, but you talked about what you learned from them and how you overcame them. You also took some of the responsibility which was great. I think one thing that you could've done is maybe put your response in a way so that it doesn't sound like your talking badly about your teacher or boss. Talking badly about a teacher or boss does not sound good in an interview and as the website said, the interviewer is testing you to see if you will talk badly about your boss or teacher.

Olivia, you had done a great job at explaining what your experience with having a teacher or boss miscommunicating with you but there is a better way of explaining that such as not saying what others had to deal with it should be what you had to deal with because the point of the question was not what others had to deal with it was what you had to deal with. And another thing you should have done was explain a bit better with the conflict you had with the boss. But other than that, you had done an excellent job at explaining it.

I have not really had any problems with teachers before. I get along well with my teachers because I pay attention in class and get my work done and in on time. I also get along with teachers well because when they ask me to do something for them I get it done correctly and quickly. I think that getting along with your teachers is important because it is easier to learn and the class will go smoother if you are paying attention and doing what the teacher says. I have also never had a problem with my boss. I teach dance in the summers for Angie Gates. We have always gotten along really well and have worked together really well because we are both team players and like to help each other. I also haven’t had a problem because when she gives me constructive criticism I take it and use it to make myself a better teacher, and to make the dances better for the kids. Getting along with your boss is also very important because you don’t want them to fire you and it will be easier for yourself to be a good employee if you like your boss and get along with he or she. Getting along with a teacher or boss is very important.

For me, I almost never have a problem with my teachers. They are great people and I get along great with them, since I pay attention to them and work to the best of my ability. If they asked me to run and errand, or to do a paper or assignment, I would get it done punctually and to my best effort. I guess if I had to give an issue, it would be an occasional lack of communication. Sometimes they would say one thing, and I would interpret something else, or I just didn’t get it the first time. I would need them to say it again, or in a slightly different way so I could understand exactly what they meant, and get it done exactly as they wanted it. With my bosses, same thing. I work my own lawn mowing business, and so every one of my clients I work with is my boss, since they tell me exactly what they want, how they want it, and when they want it. Really, I can’t think of anything that me and my bosses had an issue with. My teachers and my bosses are all really great people, and we just almost never had problems.

Evan, i thought you had a great response. If i were to change anything it would have to be first not starting with For me. It just is not a proper sentence. Also i get that you have not a lot of issues, but the DQ was about telling us about issues you have had. You kind of just rambled on about not having issues with people. I think that truly everyone has or had issues with people. Even with me i have had issues, however i talked about how i resolved those issues and the way i learned how to deal with it.

I personally get along with all of my teachers so I don’t have any problems, but if there were to be a problem it would be with what the teacher makes the sub do. Sometimes the sub notes are unclear. There have been times that the teacher gave the sub assignments and we don’t know what they are. Or sometimes the sub doesn’t know where the papers are. This ends with a lot of wasted time and frustration for the sub. When the notes are clear we get to work fast and the sub knows exactly what to tell us. Other than that there is no problems that I have with teachers.

Anna, I do understand what you mean when you say that the substitute teachers are sometimes unclear but, usually they ask us what we’ve done or they have us help them make sure they are on track. Do you always get along with all the teachers? I think in a real interview you wouldn’t answer like this and make it seem like the substitutes are so bad when they are just doing what they are told in the teacher notes. I think that if I were the one with this answer I would at least add more for a real interview.

I will admit that i have had issues with a previous boss or teacher and still do in a way. I have a problem with getting worked up over simple things, however i am working on it. I have made a huge improvement with my issue in the last year. I used to get mad and storm out of the classroom on a daily basis, but now i do not do it nearly as often. I have learned to control my anger and deal with the teacher that i have had many issues with. I was told and have now come to realize that when they nag me to do something, they are helping. It sounds funny but them giving me a kick in the butt and harping on me to get stuff done really helped me get on the right track. I may have had issues with a previous teacher or even multiple teachers but i am grateful for them and think it is awesome that even though i have had issues with the teacher they are still there for me when i need it, or even when i think i do not need help but really do. “Without action you will not go anywhere” Mahatma Gandhi wrote this quote, this is what i have tried to live by in my life since i have resolved the issues i have had.

I like how you took ownership of your feelings and down falls and didn't blame them on someone else. I also like that you put a quote in your response which makes me think you put a lot of thought into it. I think you are right - I think the teachers do want the best for you and are trying to get you on the right track.

Will, you did a great job explaining how you resolved your issue and how you know your teachers are helping you, but you didn’t give much for your issues except “simple things”. I think that if you gave examples of some of those things, it would make this a stronger response. Other than that, nice response.

I rarely have an issue with a teacher but there have been a few times that I have had confusion with a teacher. One main issue is the teacher not being able to explain the work so that I understand it. This happened because they thought we knew it well enough to just do it but some of us did not remember and needed more help than they thought. It came down to me being able to communicate with the teacher that I did not understand. Another issue I can think of is having a teacher getting grades in on time. When we do a test or an essay, I want to know how I did on it at the end of the week. They don’t have it done and graded. This is a frustration more than an issue. It becomes an issue though when it ends up taking a really long time to know our scores and our grade is not accurate. Most of my problems have come from not communicating with teachers this can be changed by getting better communication skills and learn to talk better to teachers when needed too. This can apply to when I get a job and work for a boss. Communication is very important.

Danner, this is a well written response. Giving two examples of what issues you’ve had and how you resolved them, along with making it sound like you aren’t blaming the other person for what they have done or didn’t do. The one thing that could make this response better though is explaining how communication helped resolved the problem. You did it for the first one, but not the second one. Otherwise, well written.

The previous problems I have had with a teacher is that when it comes to them telling us the information and teaching us what we need to know they don't really seem to know what to tell us and how to teach us. I think that there are good teachers and that there are bad teachers because the good teachers make class fun and they let us talk a little but then there are the bad teachers who don't let you do anything and when you say one thing they send you to the office. Another problem that I have with the teachers are the ones that I can't communicate with because they are usually doing other things or sometimes I feel like not talking to them because I don't want my class to think that I am stupid. One other problem I have with a teacher is the ones I like and don't like. The ones I like are the ones that help me and the ones I have good communications with and the ones that help me, such as when they help me through tough times when I need someone to talk to. Then there are the ones that don't like me because I talk in class and they just haven't liked me since 8th grade because I wasn't so good in 8th grade to some teachers.

Tanner, I think that you did a good job explaining what your problems were, I also have bad communication skills with some teachers. I am very shy so I don’t want to talk to teachers when I don’t understand because of my past experiences but, just because you ask a question does not make you stupid. Some students may think you are stupid for asking a dumb question but if your serious about it that shouldn’t matter to you. A way to make this answer sound better would be to try to make it less like you are talking bad about your teachers and take some of the blame for what you do to make them frustrated.

I have found that my ADHD has gotten in the way of a lot of academic related stuff. What I mean by this is that it’s excessively difficult for me to do things that other people may find easy. My brain doesn't register things the same way it might register things for another classmate. A lot of teachers do not understand this or know this, but of course I do not really want to use this as an excuse in any form, so it can be difficult for me to do my assignments or understand what they are saying. Due to this, I am not able to be as productive and efficient with my work as I could be if I did not have ADHD, and this has caused some issues among my teachers and me. Although this is a setback, I’ve been working on my organizational skills that are specified for ADHD people, I’ve been working on writing reminders, pep talking myself, finding unique ways to do things that help me, and better ways to communicate with my classmates and teachers. It’s very cool because even though I have ADHD, I am in all honors/advanced classes, my GPA is above 3.5, and I’ve been getting much better at the skills I talked about working on above. I am always working on becoming a better person and student/worker so that is definitely a strength within my weakness.

I have had many problems with teachers and other authority figures in my life. All the while figuring out ways around them. One example is a man I know who I argue a lot with. We may argue but we don’t let that get in the way of what must be done. We have found a way to communicate and work well together even through our obvious dislike for each other. I have learned that you will never go through life liking everyone you meet, or even get along with them. It is how you deal with it that counts. In life there are going to be many obstacles and this will be a main one. I may have had problems, but I always find a way through them and never let one person or any group of people get in the way of what must be done. Be it in a classroom, the work place, or even at home, you must learn to cope with it, as I feel I have done. For example, do you know anyone who gets into a lot of arguments? Do you judge them as a person based on that, or on how they deal with it and move past it? Think on that next time you get into an argument. It isn’t how many you get in. It is how you deal with them.

Cameron, I thought yours was well written, you didn't say any names and you told how you always tried to solve the problem and not it get the best of you. It is definitely hard to work with someone when you know you guys don't have the best relationship, but letting it get to you is not the right way to deal with it and I think you do a good job at always trying to not let it get out of hand.

I really haven’t had an issue with a teacher or an employer. I have had a teacher not explain the assignment very well so not giving good instructions. Some teachers don’t really know how to teach it’s like the first time they have had a teaching job and they don’t inform us that they are new so they do everything wrong. Also if they just have something against you and don’t help you or tell you to do something and you do it wrong they don’t help you correct it they just yell at you or give you detention. I have never had a bad boss though all my bosses have been family friends or I mow there lawn. I have had them not pay me right away but I get it sometimes it’s hard and I let it slide. But when they keep not paying me and they owe me quite a bit of money then I don’t think they are a very good boss. So that would make them a bad boss. It would be like they are stealing money from you because you work for it and they don’t pay you then they are keeping it so they are stealing your payment.

I think that the one main problem that bothers me most about teachers or someone like that would be that when I get confused and ask for them to explain it differently for me they get really mad and frustrated with me. Sometimes I don’t even understand a word of what some people are saying because they use words I don’t know or they say something too fast and I get behind and lost. I understand that teachers have to deal with a lost and I’m not saying that they should just suck it up and help me but, I do think that while the other students are busy working because they understand they could take a couple of minutes to help me. Another problem I have with teachers or someone in that kind of position would be when they say one thing and then change it the next day. For example, a teacher could say that our project is due tomorrow at the end of class and then the next day tell us that it needed to be finished as soon as we get to class. I understand that teachers have a lot of things to plan for but we have to try to get all of our homework from every class done and do other things that occupy our day. I also understand that this is how the real world will be like when we get done but it is a little hard to do everything at once.

Brooke, I sort of agree with you, but I think that is where communication is a big thing, and also instead of saying suck it up, maybe they can explain more of why they had to change something or they could have just explained it the next day if you were to ask why they had done what they did. Also it is hard to do everything at once, but I think they have faith in us and that it will make us better.

I really haven’t had any problems with any of my teachers. I usually try to make sure I don’t cause any conflict and always try to get along with everyone. If I had to say one thing it would probably be miscommunication. Not having things heard the correct way, but I usually find a way to solve that issue. Some people just have a harder time getting along with people, but I think that if you really try your best to be the best you can everything will go a lot better and will be smoother. Also one other thing would be grades, but it doesn’t just affect me it affected a lot of other people because something had not been turned it yet, but once we communicated with them everything was just fine. I have not had any problems with any of my bosses, for example I babysit for Marni Herres and everything goes well. All you really have to do is just follow the directions the person gives you. Though sometimes someone might not understand what they were telling them, but that is when you should always look over and ask questions if you have any. Other than those few things I haven’t had any big problems.
