We will begin working on work portfolio's so that we can get an interview.
The work portfolio gets us in the door, but we have to be able to sell ourselves once we are there. THE most difficult question that will be asked by and employer is "Tell Me About Yourself." Even though this should be easy we often get scared and never know what to say. So we are going to practice now. I want you to type up an answer to that question. You will be graded on what you say, grammar, spelling, and most importantly your word count. YOU MUST HAVE 200 or more words on this one. REMEMBER - these are job related answers, not "I like to hanging out with friends and party." We want to know about you as a possible employee.

Hi, my name is AdreAnna Barnett. I am currently 15 years old. I live in Pomeroy, WA. I have been going to school here since I was in fourth grade. I am currently a freshman in Pomeroy Jr. /Sr. High School. As coming into High School I set a lot of goals for myself. Some of my goals include passing all my classes, getting all my assignments turned in on time, and participating in as many sports and clubs I can. My grades are going the way I planned. My highest grade is in Science, with an A+. I have all B’s C’s and below. I participate in sports and other clubs. I did Basketball and I am currently in Track and Field. In Basketball session I made the JV team. Currently in Track and Field we have Districts coming up and I made it to Districts in High Jump. Some clubs I am in include Pep Club, Pep Band, Jazz Band, and FBLA. I joined Pep Band and Pep Club because I want to support my school and I have a lot of spirit. I joined Jazz Band because I like challenging myself and I feel like getting up early and playing my instrument is helping me become a better player. I joined FBLA so I could get a better understanding in the business world. I plan on going to a four year college and go into the Digital Media production. To do this I plan on taking Digital Media next year and getting any extra help I can to be sure that I have a good chance in getting into my dream College. I am currently getting offered some online College courses from GrandCan University, to get College Credits. I am also looking into classes I can take to get a scholar ship. When I first came into High School I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know that I would be going to Districts in Track and Field, and I also had no idea that my dream College would call me and offer me online courses to get college credits. The next four years of High School I plan on doing my best and if I can get my grades very well. I plan on trying to Graduate early and get an early admission to GrandCan University.

Hello, I’m Dylan King. I am fourteen years old and live in Pomeroy, WA. I have been living in Pomeroy since I was in kindergarten. I am currently a freshman in the Pomeroy Jr. /Sr. High School. I am a member of the Pomeroy FFA, and I participate in several activities in the FFA. Some of the things that I do in the FFA are showing market hogs, trapshooting, and this year I did the new member contest. I am also a junior member at the Pomeroy Gun Club where I trap shoot. This year teachers talked to us a lot about setting goals so some of the goals I set were to pass all of my classes with A’s and B’s. I was fairly successful with this goal except with one class I passed the first semester with a D but so far this semester I have a B in that class. Another goal I set was to raise my typing speed from a twenty to about a forty and I have achieved this goal. To keep my grades up I have been spending extra time in the class that I was struggling in and it has helped my grade stay up.

Hello. My name is Ashley Elizabeth Cook. I am currently 14, turning 15 in June. I currently live in Pomeroy Washington, and i plan to keep it that way. I moved into Pomeroy in the third grade. So growing up in a small town, is something im used to. Anything else would seem a bit foreign to me. A lot of the eighth graders going into high school that i knew of, were scared. Not me, i was looking forward to a challenge. Yes eighth grade was plenty of fun, but I was prepared to be more serious in my goals, sports, and out or school activities. Some activities I already do are: Volleyball, club volleyball, FFA, Missolua Children's Theater, SAM'S club, and I attend the Baptist Youth group. I went to FFA state this year, I also competed in creed this year. Although I made it past sub-districts, I did not make it through districts. I do plan on participating in FBLA next year. As I said before I went into high school without fear, looking for a challenge. I set some goals this year as many others in my class did this year. I achieve the main ones I set. Not setting my self up for failure, but not making my goals too easy. I obtained these goals by working hard and dedicating my self to the things I love. I enjoy my activities, hence the reason I do them. Another goal I made this year going into my Freshman year. This goal was to learn more about my career path. What i want to be when i "grow up" is to be a cosmetologist. I have an extremely high interest in hair, makeup, and nails. To achieve this year, I studied it obviously. I also attended the cosmetology class this year at our career fair. I look forward to going into my sophomore year, for even more of a challenge.

I’m Teresa Meyers and I have lived in Pomeroy, Washington my whole life. Currently I am about to end my freshman year at Pomeroy Jr/Sr High School. I run cross country, play golf, and am on the Pomeroy swim team in the summer. All of these sports have taught me to be part of a team, but also reach my potential as an individual. To me, being on a team means to work with others to become something great. This year I have been the Vice President of the freshman class. I am one of those people who like to be a leader. I’m not afraid to voice my opinion, but I also like to get others’ input. I am also willing to work hard to get things done. Outside of school, I am a CIT (Counselor in Training) for 4-H camp. I have been going to the camp 6 years now as a camper, but now I’m old enough to be a counselor. I’m excited because I get to work with other counselors and the adults at camp to make the kids’ time there great. Last February I was involved in the page program at Washington’s capital. There I met some very important people and learned the works of the government. I’d say it was one of the best experiences I’ve had.

Hello, my name is Havin Archer Heytvelt. I will tell you an abridged version about myself. I am 15 years old and live in a nice little town called Pomeroy. It is in the south eastern part of Washington. I have lived here all my life. I am a freshman enrolled in Pomeroy Jr. /Sr. High. I play football, wrestle, and play baseball. Baseball is definitely my favorite and I play it during the summer. I am on a team from Walla Walla and I pitch and play third base.I am a member of the FFA. I show a market hog and I will be judging meats. Honestly, I do not like school at all but I still work hard and get A’s and B’s, mostly A’s. Math and Digitools are my least favorite. I like Science and English. Digitools is the most challenging class I have ever taken. Next year instead of playing baseball during the summer I am thinking about getting a job. I think that I will fish for pike minnow. The government pays you to keep the pike minnow numbers low. I like to hunt and fish. Later in life I plan on joining the Navy.

Things about me that you should know are, that I like to keep myself busy. I hate the thought of being bored. If I don’t have something to do then I will find a project to complete. The downside of this though is that I can pile more then enough things on my schedule. I want to do everything myself. At the same time though I don’t mind asking for help. Help is something I always feel I need but at the same time I want to do a majority of my assignments myself. I love working in teams. I like to hear other’s points of view. I also like to be heard myself. When I work in a team I like to assign jobs or tasks for the project. I feel that if everyone does his/her job then everything will fall into place. These are my favorite things about working as a team. Personally I am very open-minded. I feel that I am smart too. I excel in math subjects mostly, but I am also creative. I love drawing and doing art projects. I also love to organize events. I have plenty of experience doing this throughout my high school career, even though for me that has just begun. As a student I tend to get very stressed out but I usually work thins out and this is very helpful for me. From an employee aspect you should know that I work very hard. I don’t like to give into something without knowing that I did everything I possibly could. This is the information you should know about me and my qualities that I possess from a business point of view. 5/15/2013 03:45:03 am
Mrs. Miller asked us to tell our selves from a interviewing point of view. I will do that but when I get asked “Tell me about yourself.” I would asked first, ”Am I talking about myself as if your are my friend or as my boss.” “ They might say as a friend or they might say as your bass.” But that is not what Mrs. Miller is asking. She is asking you to tell yourself as if you are talking to your boss. So that is how I will talk about my self.

Hello, I’m Austin Craigie. I am fifteen and have lived in Pomeroy for fourteen years. During that time I was home schooled, but two years ago I started going to Pomeroy high school. It has been a big change but I have been enjoying it. I am also part of two clubs FFA and the Boy Scouts of America. I have been in the BSA for four years now. Every year that I have been in the BSA I have had a leadership position, this year I am the senor patrol leader the highest leadership position. This is my first year in FFA. I am on three teams, livestock judging, food science and rituals. My rituals team didn’t get very far in the compotation, but we are also in the most competitive district. I am also a Greenhand officer for the FFA. The main sport that I am involved in is the swim team during the summer. I am planning on joining the cross country team next year. In school one of my favorite classes is Digitools. I like this class because it teaches skills that we will use for the rest of our lives like, typing, Microsoft Office, business communication and over all computer and work skills.

I am Ireland H. Mayfield, a fifteen year old freshman at Pomeroy High School in Pomeroy, Washington, where I’ve lived since kindergarten. You can count on me to be a team player. I play volleyball and basketball, and also do track and swim team. Sports have taught me a lot about how to be responsible and hard-working, and to work with others to accomplish goals. On a team, no matter what kind of team, there are a lot of characteristics that are very important to have. One is the ability to communicate, because in order for a team to work well you have to communicate your opinions or thoughts about the team and how things are working or not working. Another is trustworthiness. You should be able to trust anyone on your team to put forth their best effort. If you can’t trust people on your team or they can’t trust you, failure is likely. The last characteristic I will talk about is responsibility. In order for you to serve your part on a team you have to be a responsible team player. This means you must be able to be trusted to do your part without fail. I believe that I have all three of these important characteristics, and I think they will help me to be a solid, hard-working, dependable employee as well.

I am a girl that has not only been taught to be strong but to also to be a independent worker. I have also learned some very important skills such as how to use Word, PowerPoint and Excel and I am certified in both PowerPoint and Excel. I am a very hard worker and I try my best to get the job done quickly, and very well done. When I do something it must be done exactly as the instructions are stated and I will make sure I get everything right if its not I will redo it until it is. I persevere I will do something over and over again until I get it right. I refuse to give up it is never an option for me I will not stop trying for anything. I like being fair every one should have a shot at everything its not fair to anyone if not everyone has a shot. The next thing I'm good at is being on time I normally like to be somewhere at least fifteen minutes early being late is the worst feeling ever for me. The last thing you need to know about be is that I will try and pick everyone up as much as I can because I would like everyone in my work place to be happy and upbeat like me.

Hi, my name is Adam Herres and I am going to tell you about myself. I have experience working on a farm. I have worked both with someone and alone so I am able to do either one of these. I have been a counselor at 4-H camp for children eight to thirteen years of age so I can handle working with them. I raise steers so anything that could be done with a larger animal I could probably do it. I have a very good work ethic and I don’t stop working unless I get the job done or I am told to. I can work well with others varying in age or I can work alone. I am able to operate heavy machinery or smaller tools. I can learn something quickly and I can remember things easily. I help with my church a lot by doing several activities for it. I help with a barbeque on the Fourth of July and I help rake the yards of people that cannot do it themselves. I am a member in FFA and in this I have learned about leadership and how to help others with more difficult tasks. Do you have any questions for me?

Hello, my name is Cecilia Stebbins. I am fifteen years old and I live in Pomeroy, WA. I am a freshman at Pomeroy Jr./Sr. High School and have been in this school district since I was in fourth grade. All my grades are above average, I do struggle in my math classes but I’m doing very well in my other classes. My favorite classes are Science and Band. These are also two of my best classes. I had set a lot of goals for myself for this school year. Some of them were to pass all my classes with an 80% or better and to pass all my finals and state tests. Another goal was to get all my community service hours finished and recorded by the second month of school. So far I have accomplished all my goals. After high school I plan on waiting a year before I start college to look into all the fields that interest me. Right now I’m interested in performing arts and possibly becoming a veterinarian. I plan on going to a two-year school in Arizona. Then after that I would like to get a four-year degree. Then I plan on starting work right after I graduate or possibly before I finish. A few little things about me are that I like the heat, but not so much the cold. I don’t prefer being outside to inside or vise-versa; I almost always put others before myself. I try to follow the old saying “Mama doesn’t eat until all her children are fed.” That’s how I was raised and I intend on following that rule of thumb.

I am Aidan Dixon and I will tell you about myself in this DQ. I am an individual who is really good at making people laugh and joke around. I have an upbeat personality but I do not take it too far to be obnoxious. My most noticeable skill or advantage that helps me out a lot in Digitools is my typing speed. I am consistently getting over 60 words per minute and I can even sometimes get high 60’s and I do have multiple testes where I scored in the 70s. when I put my mind to something such as schoolwork I can get things done efficiently and I can get good grades when I set my mind to it. I am good at helping others out when they need it and I am good at being open minded to people who help me out when I need help. When working in groups I can be a good team member and I can actually work with my group members to get things done. If you are in my group and you are stressing over something you can always count on me to lighten the mood up a little bit with either humor or maybe even just a simple smile or laughter. I can also take a joke intended towards me; believe me I have several times in Digitools.

Hi, I'm Ally Bott. I am currently fourteen years old and live in Pomeroy, WA. I have been living and going to school in Pomeroy my whole life. I go to Pomeroy Jr./Sr. High School and I am a freshman. I have participated in sports this year such as volley, club volleyball, and currently in Track and Field. Going into the first of freshman year I stated to set goals. I started setting goals because I needed something to get me through freshman year, all of high school and beyond. One of my goals was to get good grades. Good grades for me are not C's and below. Good grades are either all A's or B's. To me getting good grades is important because when you have a college application or job application to fill out and you have to put your grades on it, you want to show how much knowledge you have and responsibility you have towards grades and school. Another goal for me was to improve in sports during my high school career. This year when I did volleyball for my high school I was on our varsity team as a starter. Getting to be on the varsity team meant so much to me because I got to play with my skill level and be a part of a family. Right now in Track and Field we have Districts coming up, which I didn't think I would make it to but I pushed myself and I'm going in all four of my events. Coming to the first of the year I honestly didn't know what to expect, and now coming to the end of this year is weird think that we're almost done. And coming to the end of this year means that grades are going to be tight to hold because of semester finals. But I know I'll come through for this last part of the year.

Hello, my name is Alexis Coleman and I am fifteen years old. I moved to Pomeroy Washington from Soldotna Alaska. I have lived here for twelve years and have been going to school here for 9 years. I have gotten good grades all through school; I work hard in all my classes that I am taking. I am currently struggling in one of the classes but I am working hard to get my grade up. My grades are mostly A’s and B’s. I don’t really have any favorite classes but I am really good at math. It comes really easy to me and I just understand the work really well. I have a job working in a nursery, I am really great with kids and I am really responsible. I help out my family around the house sense my dad is away; I help with the yard and house work. I go to a youth group almost every Wednesday night, I also to a summer program every Wednesday. I have a good work ethic; I don’t like to leave my work uncompleted knowingly. I do work hard to understand what I don’t know, I ask a lot of questions when I am confused or don’t know exactly what to do. I do work well in groups I am one to take charge in a group, I am a great leader. I don’t let only certain people make the decision I let anyone who has a thought say what they are thinking. I am very out there; I am willing to go talk to people I know and even those I don’t. I am great with people of all ages from kids to the elderly.

Hi my name is Esther Schuh. I am 14 years old and in the 9th grade. I currently go to school at Pomeroy High School in Pomeroy Washington. In April I moved from Sundance, Wyoming where I lived for 6 months. Before I lived in Wyoming I lived in Pomeroy, Washington for 3 years. In high school I do 3 sports consisting of Volleyball, Basketball and Softball. While I was in Wyoming our basketball team went to state and I had the privilege to play on Varsity and go with them. I ended up playing more minutes than some of the starters did because I worked harder than I have ever worked before. I feel that when I am a part of something I want to be the best that I can. I don’t do any afterschool activities, because I really want to focus on sports and not let anything else get in the way. Every day I am asked to be a leader in some kind of way whether it is in sports, school or even at home. I take it very seriously when I am asked. Lately I have been trying very hard to be a big part of the community, doing community service and having a good reputation. I think that if you want to go far in life having a good reputation will always help. When I get older I would like to be in some kind of Sports Business and go to college at Washington State University. Comments are closed.
