On September 11, 2011 we celebrated the 10 year anniversary of a major United States tragedy, and for some this will be a day they lost everything and for others a day they realized everything. All though you were possible 4 or 5 this was a day that needs to be remembered and taught about in the history of our country.
In the blog for this week I want you to reflect on what you can remember about that day or what your parents remember about that day. Then reflect on what the day has done for the USA and your family, have things changed from 2001 to 2011 and also reflect on what you think about this day and its personal significances to you or others. I want honesty but respect for others feelings as well. Your initial response should be 200 words. I am not requiring a peer response this week, but if you read another students post and feel there is something you want to post in a reflection for that student you can earn extra credit points for your reflections.

I don’t remember a lot about 911 but the one thing I do remember is my grandma was in Boston and my mom and dad were freaking out. This is what my mom remembers. She had woke up and was getting my sister ready for school and she turned on the news. They were showing the twin towers being hit and showed people jumping out windows, people dying and getting hurt. It was horrible to watch she said. It took my grandma 3 days to get home on a plane. My mom wasn’t talking to people at that time but she reconnected with them because of 911. Everybody was worried. Most of my family lived back east at the time and still do. She said she will never forget where she was on two dates and those are January 28, 1986 when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded and September 11, 2001 when the twin towers fell of a terrorist attack. 911 brought this county in to fear. Like now at the dams you can only go across at certain times of the day and air port security is stricter. Gun stores have a longer waiting period to get your gun. I hope you learned a lot about my 911 report.

The only thing I remember from the day of 911 is that some plane crashed into a building. But know I know that it was a terrorist attack and a lot of people died that day. Some by not being able to breath, getting crushed by the building, falling or jumping out of a window and some died from the impacted of the plane because it flew into their office. That day was filled with sadness as Mrs. Miller said all the children and adults where watching the TV to see what happened. I feel sorry for the children that had parents that worked at the twin towers because they would have lost one parent or both if they both worked there. I can see how they are feeling for losing a parent I have to lost a parent it is very upsetting and there is nothing you can do to help them or stop it from happening to is just how the world works. It is said a man had predicted that the towers where going to be attacked and it happened some terrorist had driven a van into the parking lot and blow up the parking garage and some of the lower levels. After that he had started a better security system set up he had several drills that they did to prepare for another attack. On 911 those drills saved a lot of people but the man who had made them did not make it he was so busy trying to get everyone else out he did not think of himself he was still in the building when it started to crumble. So thanks to him a lot of people got out but not everyone. The attack on the twin towers showed us that we still can be attacked. I guess we did not learn our lesson from the attack on Pearl Harbor we are not invincible we are not a superman country no country is. If we look back in history it happens to repeat it’s self in some way. If we learn from our mistakes from the past we might learn how to prevent the horrible things from happening in some way. This is what I have learned and remember if you don’t like it then don’t say anything. 911 is one of the saddest thing I remember

On 9/11 I remember that day very well. We were living out of our really nice camper at the time it had an upstair bed room were my parents slept. In that little room there was a tiny TV my dad told me to come look what was on, and so I did as soon as I came in the room the second tower was hit. I asked what was going on he said we were being attacked. I asked why he said it was "Because there are very bad people in the world that dont like our way of thinking." This day was very important because it tought us that we Americans are not invincable. And also made us very aware thta there is a threat to all of us. Today we remember the people that fell and served to save all the people involved in the attack

I don’t really remember where I was during 9/11. I was probely at home doing something. I never really knew what they were talking about till 2 years ago because I was in a grain truck listening to talk radio cause the truck I was in didn’t have FM, only AM. They always were talking about 9/11 and ground zero and how they wanting to build a mosque at ground zero and they were having a big argument. My thought on that was screw the Muslim’s, and the Islamist that had people die. Why the heck would we care about the terrorists that died, they were the cause of all this evil. Osama Bin Laden claimed responsibility for the attack on the towers. When they hit the towers many people died, and lots of people injured. It is kinda sad that I dint know about 9/11 till I was 12-13 years old. The United States has changed a lot since 2001 to 2011. If you go to a air port they can randomly pick you out to check if you are a terrorists, sometimes it is kids that get pulled away and checked for that kind of stuff. It was the same thing with Pearl harbor. After the Japanese bomb us we became stricter on security. I have heard the govt. was trying to get a law passed that guns are illegal. So that means no one can have a gun except for military and policemen and such. That was a big fight that ended up in failure.I learned a lot about 9/11 and everything that it means to people.

Daniel- I learned a lot from your story. That a man made drills that saved people but he was so busy saving other people he died. And also that they prepared for another attack after that.

The only things that I can remember about 9/11 it that it was a terrorist attack and that the twin towers where hit. This was a horrible day in history. My dad says that he remembers that he was at work getting into a farm truck to move grass seed and turned on the radio and herd about someone crashing into the buildings he did not know at the time what buildings that they where talking about. He thought they where talking about something in history until he listened for a little bit and he found out that it was happening right then. And he latter found out that not only the twin towers got hit but the pentagon, and field in Shanks Ville Pennsylvania. So there were four planes that crashed. My mom says that she remembers that she was asleep and my aunt Shannon called her in a panic. When my aunt Shannon called my mom turned on the news and found out more information about where they crashed. She found out that a lot of people had died because of these terrorist attacks. This attack changed the airport security, the way we fly, and many people’s lives. It had an effect on people’s brothers and sisters and parents and grandparent that died in the attack. It changed how causous people where when they flew for a long time people where scared to fly and because of the attack the airport security is really strict and you have check downs and scan for metal and all this other stuff. In the long run the attack changed a lot in our lives and how we live now.

I am not sure where I was at when the attack happed. I know it was a horrible thing. Since I was younger my mom told me what was happening, she said that some people had taken over a plane and they were going to crash them in to the Twin Towers. I really did not know what to think about it besides that a hole bunch of insist people were going to die. I can't even imagine what the family have had to go through. I know if I lost my mom, dad, brother or my sister I would be a mess. There were even kids that got killed in the towers. There are kids without parent that either died on the plane or in the Twin Towers. I would not wont to be the people on the plain because can you imagine people take over the plain and let you know you are going to die. The people on the plane had time to call and tell there families they loved them and whatever ells they wanted. After the attack people where afraid to fly because of tourists taking over their plane. The day 9/11 should always be remembered. On the day we need to remember the horrible things that happened because this is something we can just forget ever happened. We also need to remember the people that volunteered to go and get people out of the buildings. That is what I remember and know about 9/11.

I don’t remember anything about 9/11, probably because I was only four years old when it happened. My parents probably remember the day well, but I haven’t talked with them about it very much. September 9, 2001 was like a wake up call for the United States. I think that 9/11 was a huge tragedy, and I would hate to be someone that lost a family member that day. I think that 9/11 made lots of people realize that terrorism is a real thing. After the attack on the Twin Towers all types of security were tightened. A lot of things have changed since 9/11, and now when you go to an airport there is a good chance that you will get chosen for a random body search.

After reading the 10 posts submitted I am very disappointed to see that only one didn't have spelling errors. We need to take our time and re-read and spell check our work. Please start capitalizing your names, and for those wondering heard (is when we listen) and herd (is what a bunch of cows are).

The only thing I remember from 911 is that these planes crashed into a building, and that some bad guy was in charge of it, I was only 4 when it happened. But now I know that it was a terrorist move, and that a man named Osamma, was one of the men that were in charge of this attack. I know that a lot of people died in this tragedy of the U.S. I feel sorry for the people that died and the people that who had loved ones that died in this horrible attack. I am thankful that none of my family members were in that tragedy. This has affected the U.S dreadfully, I mean that everyone had something bad happen that day, and a lot of people cried and shed a lot of tears and maybe they lost hope in our safety as a nation. Some people killed themselves over this awful tragedy. I know that I still feel safe living here. I love living in a free country, but people still today shed tears on that September day, and some people will never let go of what happened. So all the tears that were shed was because someone decided to kill hundreds of people, and to scare them in everything they did.

On, 9-11 I really don’t remember it. All I remember is that my Mom and Dad were watching the news all day and that my brother and sister got to stay home all day. I remember the pictures on the news the people coming out of the building covered in dust. Then when the second plane hit the other building it was all chaos. Every year after that the showed pictures of that day. The one move I thought was disturbing was the video of the people jumping out of the windows or the people coming out of the building on fire. After that day 9-11 president Bush sent tropes into Iraq. My Dad kept saying that on that day the world stopped. No planes flew; there was nothing else on the news. People say that was the worst day the United States ever had. 2,749 people died that day and that 100 people were trapped by the smoke and fire. The first plane hit between the 84th floor and the 78th floor at 8:46 AM and at 9:03 AM the second plane hits the second building and hit between the 98th floor and the 93rd floor. 1360 people died above the 93rd floor and 595 people died on the first tower above the 78th floor. Today they are building a fountain to remember the people who died.

I do not remember where I was or what I was doing on 9/11. My parents told me my mom look me to school and ate lunch with me because she was afraid about what might happen. My dad said he turned on the TV and it was on the news and it showed the buildings on fire. He got my mom and showed her what was happening. My parents new it was a terrorist attack and was very said about all the peoples lives lost that sad day. They didn’t know what was happening and that’s why my mom can with me to school. That day has changed the USA by teaching us we are not always protected and how we fly today, we have more laws to follow now because of that day in history. The security system goes threw all of your bags to see it you have something you should not have with you when you fly. When people were cleaning up the ruble when the two buildings fell no one thought the smoke was unhealthy to breath. Many people got cancer and died. They did not were masks or air filters when cleaning up the ruble. People all over the city got cancer because the wind would blow it all around throughout the city.

There is a lot of things that I remember about 911. But still I don't know that much. I remember that 3 planes crashed into the Twin Towers. There was also a plane that crashed into the pentagon. Also, there was one more plane that crashed some were in Pennsylvania. When the planes hit the towers, there was a big explosion. but, when the third plane hit it made one of the towers fall down. When that tower fell down, it made the other tower fall down as well. After the second plane hit, there were many people jumping from the widows. There were many fire fighters that helped out with trying to get people out of the towers. There was one person that stood out and that guy help the other people instead of trying to save his own life. Many people did that as well, but they didn't live through it. When the third plane hit the towers, it made both towers fall down. When they fell down all you could see is smoke. Over 300 fire fighters died that day. For about 3 months, the fire fighters that were still alive search for people that could still be alive. When they were all done, all they found was one person trapped under stuff. For the past year, they have been trying to build a new tower for a tribute of the attack. This year, were the twin towers were, there was a hole with a waterfall going into the ground. There were 2 of those and they were exactly were the twin towers use to sit. Around the waterfall there was concrete that had all of the people that died in the attack. I think this attack changed everybodies life. Exspecially the families that lost some people in there families. That is all I know about the attack.

10 years ago on September 11, 2001, one of the United States’ worst tragedies happened. Terrorists flew US planes into our World Trade Center ( Twin Towers ). The sad part is that the terrorists that flew the planes were trained by us. We suspected nothing of them. I personally can’t remember anything from that day because I was too young. But seeing all the people that took video during the attack, I can see it was pretty devastating. The people inside the building had no warning that it was going to happen. Some of the people in the towers were falling out of the buildings because they were disoriented, and some were deliberately jumping. We are building a monument for all that die during the attack of 9/11. This day is a sad day to all and will be remembered by all. This day is important to me because it shows just how easy it could be to get attacked and how ready our armed forces have to be every day. This day means a lot to me because it was the day that our country learned that anything can happen, even to us. Before that day, 9/11 was just another day of the week. But since that day, and forever after that day, our country will never be the same.

I never really knew what happened for 9/11 until I was about eleven. I had just turned four years old a week prior to the date. So I had no idea what was going on. I only remember a brief thing from way back then. The morning it happened I was in daycare where my mom worked as the preschool teacher. When we got to the daycare the other teachers had the television on and everyone just sat quietly watching it for about ten minutes. Then they shut the television off and went on about our day. The adults acted weird because they were sad and confused. My mom thought it was ridiculous because doing harm to others is wrong. My dad was working six hours from us in Oregon. It was a very sad thing that is now part of our history. Even though it was clear across the United States it still seemed close to home. It affected people that everyone personally knew somehow. Like where my family was renting where we where living, the owners daughter and husband could have been working in the Pentagon one of the areas hit during 9/11 but luckily they had retired a few years before. It was a scary time and hopefully it will be prevented for the future so that Americans don’t have to go through that again.

I was only four on September 11th 2001 so I personally do not remember a thing. But both of my parents do. My Dad was driving to work when he first heard of the terrorist attacks. He told me that is first reaction was disbelief that anything like this could ever happen to a country as strong as ours. Then he was angry that anyone would do such a thing in their hatred for the U.S. But then he thought of all the people who died in the attacks and the people who would be risking their own lives to save the others. My Mom told me she was driving to work when she heard about it. When she arrived she pulled the T.V. out of the conference room and stared at the T.V. in disbelief in what was happening. All of my Moms friends and colleague gathered around the T.V. and many of them started crying because many of them thought it was the end of our great country. The significance of this event has altered the course of many for their lives. Many people went to war and died. Others tried to save the victims of the attack. For my family it meant struggle because as we grew up both of my brothers wanted to join the military to fight for this country but both of them were unable to because of medical reasons.

Whenever 9/11 happened I was only 5 years old, therefore I don’t remember anything at all from that day, but what my mom remembers was that my brother and sister and I were getting ready for school and my grandma called my mom and asked her to watch the news and so she turned it on and we all watched it. All of us kids didn’t even want to go to school that day because we were scared. That day was a sad tragic day for the USA. We lived only in smaller places so it didn’t affect us personally but it did affect the town or city, for an example the dams got stricter and higher security and airports got more secure and so many other things got really strict. From 2001 to know the airports and dams have gotten even more strict and higher level of security. I am fortunate not to have lost anyone that day but thousands of others had lost a family member or friend, so that must be really sad for them. The government were heroes that day too, for stopping the plain from crashing into the white house, and those who were brave to try to help those who were trying to get out of the building on time. I don’t know much details of this event much at all but I do know that many Americans got killed that day in a tragic death.

I don't really remember a lot about that day. I was probably at school. My Step Mom remembers she was living in Portland Oregon. Her and her family were scared because there was a world trade center in Portland too. They thought they were going to get attacked. My dad remembers arrived to school (college) and found out. Then they sent everybody home. He went home and watched it live on TV. This has changed the way everybody travels. Passports were now needed to travel to Mexico and canada and the requirements to obtain a passport increased in difficulty. Everyone is more cautious paying even more attention to others around them. It slowed our economy down decreasing the number of jobs and causing more awareness of money being spent. Things have changed a lot since that day. The war caused by this changed the price of gas and it increased the price of all other consumer goods. It has increased racial profiling and it has increased prejudice against the muslim faith. This has affected many people who lost family and friends. There were children left without one or both parents.those who did survive are now getting sick from the inhalation of debree and fumes at the site of the World Trade Center. Nobody can predict the total devistation that can come about in the following decades.Life has moved fowared since that day but, the reminders of the day woll be present in our everyday lives for many years to come.

Your story was very interesting and sad. It made me think about that day but I dont really remember where I was that day. I think I was probably at school. My parents were both home during it. It was a very scary time but I didnt really know what really happened till about a few years later because I didn't understand alot of it. I was five years old at the time. Nine eleven has impacted my family in many different ways. As both a fireman and a deputy my Dad felt the loss of all the EMS personel in the towers. The loss in firefighters that day totaled more than the entire spokane fire department where he works. One of the biggest impacts is that it inspired my older brother Troy to join the Military after he finished collage and he is currently getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan. In the years since that day plans have been made for a new world trade center. It will have 4 buildings. This year 9/11 scared alot of people because of the tenth year anniversary there were threats of another attack. Hopefully the new trade center wont be attacked in the future and lets hope it stays their for a very long time. Comments are closed.
