We will be completing a question of the day each day after a lecture - you can complete after class or the beginning of the next day. Here is the requirements for your post:
1. Give (1) one thing you learned in this weeks lecture 2. Give (1) one thing you still need clarification on from lecture. 3. Give (1) one thing you wish we would have talked more about in lecture. 4. Give (1) one question you have from lecture or assignment that was given. I will respond to your questions and help with clarifications, but you can also respond to each other to help with questions. If you respond to another student - remember to use proper blog etiquette. Also remember to respond specifically to the student by clicking comment on their comment.

This week from lectures we learned about tabs and tables. One thing I learned from tabs was that we can set the tabs from the paragraph dialog box. I understood this lecture well enough that I don't need any clarification. I wish we would have talked more about leaders and what we would use them on. What other things could we use leaders on other than a table on content in a book.
Mrs. M

One other option would be if you are making an agenda for an event and you might use leaders.

One thing I learned in the lecture is how to manipulate a table. One thing I need clarified is how to clear all tabs. One thing we should have talked about more in the lecture is the different ways to manipulate and change a table. One question I have is how to change the border on the table.
Mrs. M

Under the Table Tools - Design Tab - you'll find Borders. You can manipulate using Borders and Shading button on that menu list. You can also change those using Border Painter and changing the border style or pen color and clicking on the borders you want changed.

I learned the importance of leaders and why we have them. I still am wondering why would they put the other options on the tab type if we are not going to use them. I wish we would've talked more about how to set up the leaders because it seems like there was more to learn about in that segment. When would we use the right side tab? I am confused on why that would be.
Mrs. M
10/21/2015 09:42:35 pm
You would use the other options in things like Accounting and other industries. I don't use them often and for what you are doing with Word you will not use them now, but they are used by others. Leaders are easily set by setting a tab stop and click on one of the 4 options for leaders - not much more that can be done. Right side tab would be used in things like book numbers or something that we want to line up on the farthest side of where we want text. I learned more about tabs than anything in the lecture. I think the tab leads were my favorite part of the lecture. I am pretty sure I understand the subject on tabs and tables very well. One thing I may not be so sure about is if the thing on the ruler is called a tab stop or something else. I wish we talked more about tables. My question is the L shaped thing on the ruler called a tab stop.
Mrs. M
10/21/2015 09:43:41 pm
The L is a Left Tab Stop. What you put on the ruler is called a Tab Stop. What more on tables would you like to learn?

One thing I learned from this weeks lecture was the manual way to insert tabs. I understood things well enough that I do not need anything clarified. One thing I wish we would have talked more about was leaders. A question that I have from this lecture was more about the design of a table, and more of the different things that you can do to make them look cooler, sense I was absent for the beginning of the lecture.
Mrs. M
10/21/2015 09:44:56 pm
Design of a table can be done on the Design Tab after you are in your Table which includes Pre-formatted styles and the ability to shade the cells and or change the type/color of the borders.

In the lecture this week I learned what the difference between a Tab and a Tab Stop. I don't really need anything clarified, nor do I wish we talked about anything, and I don't have any questions. All in all, I got everything that was said and don't have any questions.

I learned that Ctrl Alt A highlights all the texts. I need more clarification for the ruler. I wish she talked more about distributing date. How do you distribute rows and columns for dates.
Mrs. M
10/21/2015 09:47:26 pm
It is just CTRL A - which means Select All.

One thing I learned this week is how to use tabs in the correct way. One thing that I still need clarified is when it is nessecary. What I wished that we would’ve talked about longer is how to clear all of the tabs. One question I have from the lecture is when do you use another default in tabs?
Mrs. M
10/21/2015 09:50:47 pm
When you would use a different default is when you work in a industry that has a larger pre-set indentation. Accounting would use a 1"

One thing that I learned in this week’s lecture was what a leader is and that it was a lot different than I thought. What I would like to be clarified from the lecture is inserting more rows or columns in a table. It would have helped me more if we talked more about the tables and the alignments and borders. When adjusting a table, how do I get It to the double arrow?
Mrs. M
10/21/2015 09:53:26 pm
put the cursor over the border of table and you'll get the double arrow. Alignments in tables mean where you want the text to appear you find that in the Layout tab for Tables. For the borders see my post to Aiden. Inserting Rows and Columns - remember you can move the mouse to the side of the row and a + will appear click on it and a new row/column will appear. You can also use the Layout Tab (in table tools) and click on right/left for columns, above/below for rows

This week I learned how to manipulate, set, adjust and delete tabs. I understood it and don't need clarification on anything. I wish we would have did more on the other tabs we don't use often so we know what they are for and why they are on the computer. I do not have a question at this time.

One thing I learned this week about tabs and tables is how to convert text to a table. I would like to have a little more clarification on were the different tabs line the words up at. I wish we would have talked a little more about when we would use a tab. Why would we set the tab to a different setting other that default?
Mrs. M
10/21/2015 09:53:55 pm
You'll do an example of why in your two assignments.

In this lecture I learned about leaders, we learned how to but them in and what their most used in. One thing I still need clarification on is when we would need the right side tab. Even though you said we don't need to learn about the other tabs I still would have liked to know when there used. How do you distribute Rows and Columns for dates?

One thing I learned from this lecture was how to make a tab stop.
Mrs. M
10/21/2015 09:55:38 pm
Adjusting the tap stop would require you to move it right or left - once you make it as long as you don't drag down you can move it any where on the ruler.

This week I learned how to set, adjust, manipulate, and delete tabs. I do not think that I need any clarification from our lectures. I think I know how to do everything that was taught. I wish we would have talked more about the layout tab for the table lecture so that I know how to do everything that is on there. I do not have any questions from the lecture or assignment that was given.

I learned how to use the ruler to set tabs, I still need clarification on setting leaders because when I tried to do it the set button was still gray. I want to know how to make to leaders work on the assignment.
Mrs. M

You have to create the tab stop in the Paragraph Dialog Box and pick header type at the time you make the tab stop.

One thing I learned from this weeks lecture was that you can adjust the tab stops to be where ever you want and you can make the default be however big you want it to be. One thing I still need clarification on is determining when we will be needing to use a certain tab selector. In this lecture I wish that we would have talked more about leads. One question that I have about the lecture is why does the tab stop HAVE to be a default of .5?
Mrs. M
10/21/2015 09:58:03 pm
That is industry standard, for writing papers and other documents that when you indent in a paragraph you are only going that amount of space.

1. I learned how to delete tabs in this week’s lecture.
Mrs. M

Not an easy way to clear them all at one time. To insert your own tabs just know where you want them and click on the ruler to add them.

I learned this week how to make a leader and what they are for. I still need clarified is the converting text to tables. I wished we talked more about the already made tables. My question on the assignment is, on the first step for the assignment pet shop tab the border below column labels and no leader on column labels, that kind of confuses me and I don't understand what it is saying.
Mrs. M
10/21/2015 10:01:38 pm
When convert text to table - highlight the text you want to convert - then click convert - then you'll have to decide your columns/rows and it may take a few times to figure out if it is what you wanted.

This week’s lecture I learned how to set up a leader on the 2013 Word document. But I think I need some more clarification on the tabs because I know how to set one up but I do not know how to get there. I wished we would of talked more about the tabs so I would on grasped the concept more. The question I would ask you is how you get to the tab numbering.
Mrs. M
10/21/2015 10:02:18 pm
Once you set a tab stop - hit the Tab key on the keyboard to get there.

I learned how to make tabs and do tab stops. I need to clarify on how to erase tabs. We could’ve talked about the whole lecture so we can understand it more clearly. how do you switch the table like sideways or a different direction?
Mrs. M
10/21/2015 10:03:08 pm
You can switch the table but you can switch the text using Text Direction under the Table Tools/Layout

The first thing I learned in today’s lecture was that if you move the tab on the ruler then there is no more default. I will need help on the Tab stop position. I wish we could have worked on the quick tables. How do you change the quick tables?
Mrs. M
10/21/2015 10:03:40 pm
When you insert a quick table the only thing you want to change is the text in the table and not the format.

In this weeks lecture I learned how to adjust where your tab takes you and how to add leaders. One thing that I need clarification on is on what a tab stop is. One more thing that I wish we would have talked about more is how to delete a tab stop. One question I have from the lecture is how you increase size and shape of a table.
Mrs. M
10/21/2015 10:04:48 pm
That would be by adjusting the width and height of the rows/columns - you can use the double arrow or manual type in on the table tools/layout tab

1. One thing I’ve learned in this week’s lecture is that is how to set up a tab.
Mrs. m

you don't design tabs you set a Tab Stop and then you hit Tab on the keyboard to move where you will type next - it eliminates the space bar to move from area to area quickly.
