What is Veterans Day?
United States President Woodrow Wilson first proclaimed an Armistice Day for November 11, 1919 by saying, "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with lots of pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations." Search the web for a quote that you feel best explains what veteran's day means to you. Type the quote and the reason that you picked that quote. When you reply to other students tell them what you think of their quote, their meaning, and how their quote affected your thinking about veteran's day.

Memo- I think that you were right about the description. Even though people risked their life in the many wars, they only did a milestone. There's always going to be wars and there's always going to be hardships and we just have to push through to the future.

Tyson- I think that your quote is a lot like Memos. If we don't push through hardtimes and be brave we will never succeed in anything. When we are willing to fight for our rights we will always be successfull, or as other people say "free"

I think there is one higher office than president and I call that patriot, Gary Hart. I picked this quote because I think that patriots have a more important job than the president. They are the people who saved lives and are still saving lives of many Americans.

Katelin- I agree with your quote I feel no solider is unwounded in a war. They get hurt in some way. Yet they still fight for our country. This is why we should honor our veterans and thank them for their hard work and dedication to our country.

“On this Veterans Day, let us remember the service of our veterans, and let us renew our national promise to fulfill our sacred obligations to our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much so that we can live free."- Dan Lipinski. The reason I picked this quote is because it briefly explains what veterans day is about which is honoring the soldiers that died in the service.

They will read about the wars we have had and they will know the heros that were in the wars. As long as we are strong we will be a free country.

All war is deception-Sun Tzu I picked that one because in all of the wars you will lose in something. Veterans day is were you celebrate the people who have served our country and still are, and the people who have died will serving it. You give people respect on this day because it is the thing to do. Some schools have poems they have kids write about and veterans grade them, that is like our school.

“The more we sweat in peace the less we bleed in war” ~ Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit. I chose this quote because it means that the harder we work to prevent war the fewer people will die trying to make peace. To me Veteran’s Day is about honoring those people that had to die so that there could be peace, and as the quote says if we had worked harder to get along with other countries the less people would have died.
