How do you feel about DQ's?
Answer this question with a reflection about what you are learning, experiencing, enjoying, and hating about DQ's. I want you to be honest but tact is important. Also include if you think we should continue with DQ's, even provide alternate ways to have these discussions. Because this is personal and I want full effort you will not respond to other students and must write 200+ words to get credit.

From the dq’s I am learning how easy it can be to communicate using computers and how hard it can be. I am also learning how important it is to proof read your work so that your meaning is clear and you sound respectful and intelligent. I am also experiencing how hard it can be to communicate this way and have everyone who reads it understand what you were typing about. I am also learning how easy it can be to put something down that you will regret and would not have said out loud. I kind of enjoy dq’s because we get to put ideas and thoughts down that we have about the subject and most of the time they make us sound like we know what we are typing about. I dislike the dq’s because I don’t like to comment to people on things like public speaking skills because I usually end up posting to someone I don’t really know and what I post may not be entirely truthful because I may not know what they need to work on. I think that we should continue with the dq’s because if we are going to have discussions then this may be the only way to have almost everyone comment about it.

I never really liked DQ’s but that doesn’t mean that they are all that bad. They do help a lot with communication skills and typing skills. They let us tell others about important things and also help us improve ourselves and others. Sometimes they can be slightly difficult but challenges are good for every once in a while. I believe that I have greatly benefited from the DQ’s. They have helped me know what I am good at and what I should really work at. I have applied some of the things that I have learned from the DQ’s to real life and they helped immensely. They can also help people who really are not familiar with computers become more familiar with them because you have to use a computer to do them and it will improve their skills with computers. I really do think that there should be DQ’s in the future; they can help a lot of kids in a lot of ways.

I personally like the DQs. It a great place to give your input on important issues, and helps us with writing and communication skills that will really help later in the workforce. You also have to think about what you are going to write and what you’re going to say in your comments to make sure that you are not offensive or sound mean. Something that you need to think about also is how other people will read the comment, something that doesn’t sound mean to one person might sound rude to another. Also something that I really think is good about the DQs is that it helps us with responsibility, and I sometimes struggle with this and have forgotten to do it. Even when I did forget I still worked hard to make it up for lunch detention. But when you do forget I really hurts your grade when you do forget. So I think that we should continue doing it. Also I can’t really think of any other ways to do because as Mrs. Miller has said that people might say things in the blog that they would not say or say differently in person. That is why I think the DQ is important and beneficial to the entire class.

I don’t really know how I feel about the DQ’s. There are the good parts and the bad parts the each one. A good one is that I learned a lot about the topics we had to write about. For example the different ways of speak. It taught me all kinds of things that I didn’t know before. A bad part about them is that sometimes I don’t always have access to a computer because I don’t have one at home that I can use and at school I can’t always find the time to use one. I think that keeping the DQ’s make kids more responsible because it’s just like any other homework assignment. It also teaches students how to be respectful. When we have to reply to another student we have to be careful what we say so that we don’t hurt someone. It helped me a lot with my speaking skills because it made me think before I said something to anyone. I don’t like them because sometimes they take up too much time or sometimes I have a whole week where I have a lot of homework every night and it can be hard to get the DQ done on time and without it being able to be turned in late it really drops grades if they aren't done.

Honestly, I really don’t like the DQ’s. They are probably are good for us to do so we can communicate with our fellow students, along with the teacher, and helps us with our computer skills. But as a teenage boy I really don’t like spending the extra time doing these. They seem to take forever to complete and I think they are boring. If they were shorter like only 100 words or something they would not take as long. If you did that then for every 100 words over the minimum 100 words you could assign 10 extra credit points. I could use the extra credit but I know some kids in my class that really could use the extra credit. But they would have to put good thought into the comment. If you could make the topics more interesting the students would be much more willing to do their DQs. It is good to keep our lazy butts working but that is exactly what teenagers would really not like to do in their free time. I really do not want to be a computer tech or anything like that when I grow up so I have trouble with trying very hard to get the DQ’s done.

I don't like the DQ's they are boring and I think a waste of time. If you could make them more fun and interesting then that may students would take time to do them. I honestly am not learning anything from them and it’s a good way to get us to communicate with each other um some do like them because they can learn a lot for what they want to do in life. I wish we didn’t have them then I can take more time to do homework or after a long day I forget about the DQ’s and well lunch detention. I really like doing the stuff and some of the topics maybe if they were shorter and funny or something to grab our attention I think that we wouldn’t be missing them and actually do it. I am learning how to communicate better and how to write in my own words what we are learning I actually can do most of my assignments without help now because of the DQ’s and it makes you think more so you use your brain. I like how most of the assignments are from what we do in school like the career day that was fun.

I think DQ’s are okay. I think that their purpose is good but to me I have a hard time remembering to do them in my busy schedule, but they are a big part of the reason my grade is as high as it is. When I do my DQ’s though I always have a lot to say on some subjects. I have a hard time doing these because my afternoons are not very open for me to work on some homework. I have a lot of things in my schedule and this makes it hard to get everything done during the week and for me DQ’s are just one more thing on my to-do list. I like some of the topics that you pick because when we did the one on power point I learned more about presenting a power point. This helped me a whole lot because I haven’t presented a lot of presentations and this has helped me. I like responding to my class mates because then I get to read their point of view and respond my thoughts about their thoughts. I have experienced that my class mates look out for each other when we do the group DQ’s. The one week we wanted to prove to you that we all could do our DQ we all got on each other’s tail to get it done. There were only two people who didn’t get it done and that was because they were wrestling that week. We all worked hard to make sure we could to it as a class that I think was our best DQ week so far.

In DQ’s I am learning that I need to have a good memory to make sure that I do the DQ on time so I don’t have lunch detention. Sometimes I will even write “DQ” on my hand so I won’t forget to do it. What do I enjoy about DQ’s? Well to be honest I can’t say much about this. I honestly do not enjoy DQ’s at all I like nothing at all about the DQ’s. I personally hate a lot of things about DQ’s. I hate the fact that sometimes you will be laying in bed on a Friday night at about 11:00 and you are all excited about being comfortable and you are looking forward to no school the next two days and then you realize you forgot to do your DQ’s so you have to get up and not comfortable anymore and do it. I think that we should not continue DQ’s. As everyone knows, I love talking especially in classes like Digitools, and I would enjoy having an actual oral DQ every week on Friday so nobody will forget about it and we can actually talk about it. After all we all know that talking in person can accomplish a lot more and can be much more effective in trying to prove your point. That is my DQ, I hope you liked it and I hope it’s my last DQ I do.

DQs have taught us about the importance of proof reading, communication, procrastination, and other school/business related things. At the start of the year, DQs were always a surprise as to what the topic is. After a while I felt the topic seemed sort of repetitive. I think that if the topics have some variety those DQs would be better. Sometimes it’s hard to find 150 words to day about a topic and/or a reply to a student. Sometimes I feel like my comments are almost the same, just a change in wording Another thing DQs have taught us is that when other people don’t do their job, it hurts you and it gets really frustrating. It seems silly for people to forget about DQs since we’ve been doing them all year. But with sports, clubs, and other commitments it can be easy to forget. These next two weeks are going to be hectic for me, with lifeguard lessons every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4pm-10pm. Plus I have to fit in golf, Drivers Ed and jazz band. So it will be hard to remember. From all of this I’m going to conclude that DQs are good to have, but the topics should have more variety and maybe we should have the weekend to do them, especially now when everyone is getting busier and busier.

What I am learning about DQ’s is that they are really important to get done. I am also learning that if you take the time to do them they will not affect your grade. What I am enjoying about DQ’s is that they are helping my grade when I do get them done. I honestly hate doing DQ’s. I always end up forgetting to do my DQ’s. I don’t think that they are hard I just forget about them. I think that we should continue with the DQ’s because they give us a lot of opportunities to get a passing grade. I think that you should give us a reminder on Wednesday to do our DQ’s and if we forget from that point on it is our own fault. I think that we should do our DQ’s on things that we would be more interested in. Maybe then we would actually get them done. I think a lot of people don’t do their DQ’s because they just aren’t really interested in the topic there for they don’t care to get them done. I honestly do them wither they are interested or not because they really do improve your grade. If you do your DQ’s there is no reason you should fail the class because your DQ’s are worth a lot of points. That is what I think of DQ’s.

I have never liked DQ’s but I have gotten use to it because we have one almost every week. But im not saying there a bad thing to have. And most of the DQ’s can be boring at some times but I like the ones that we don’t have to do research. But I have found It hard to remember about them because of clubs, sports and school work. And that some of them can take up to 2 hours and that is not much fun. And not doing them can be really bad because Your grade can go from and A to a B-. I like the DQ’s some times because it can be easy and an easy grade. And I have learned how easy it is to communicate with a computer and that people can see it in a flash. But some of the DQ’s can really make you thing and I like those. I think we should keep the DQ’s because it is a good internet experience and I think it will be funny for the kids next year when they have to do them. But all and all the dq’s are not that bad. And that is what I think about dq’s.

I am not a big fan of DQs because it doesn't really help me talk to other people because when you say some thing that you think is cool or that you think this should happen people just agree with to get there respons done. When you talk to them face to face thoe they will disagree and get there real point across. To me DQ are a pain in the neck. If we could do them during class time or some thing like that instead of having to wory about coming in during lunch or in the morning or after school when all we want to do is go home for the day not stay around all the stress at school. I think DQ would be better as extra credit still have it be 20 points for every thing but just to keep it alive but not have to stress about it. I wouldn't mind as much if I had internet at home but I don't have that option. I know my whole speach will either go unread or not even put into opinion because I am not cool enough or smart enough or the faster typer or the quickes learner or the most athletic here but every one has a heart and feelings even some body like me.

What do I think about DQs? I personally don’t like them, but I do think they are a good idea. The help us learn not only how to type but how to communicate over a computer. They help us not be mean or rude; to know that what we say might hurt others even if we are just messing around. I learned many things when doing these. I learned about communication both in person and over the computer. The discussions we had to type about even taught me many things. Like how to present presentations or power points. Like mostly how to reply to my classmates DQ and help they learn how to make it better. It helped when we got to reply to each other to help out one another. We also learned to be nice when replying to another person. I don’t like how we have to do these every week. I do think they are important but maybe once a week because people forget when to do it if they are super busy that week. With a lot of people forgetting to do them I think that they should just keep doing what they are doing, getting lunch detention if they don’t do it. They are really important and even easy, they are just time consuming. That’s what I think about DQ’s and how they are important.

I really don't like DQs because even though I get a chance to speak my mind it feels like we go off the same sort of topic every week and its not very fun. It also feels like no one can really understand what I'm saying because I can't type my emotions or you can't read the words the way I would like you too. Even though I'm learning to not procrastinate as much as I use to it is still very hard for me. I really enjoy being able to say exactly what I want too without feeling nervous or scared even though speaking in class about what I think would help with my public speaking skills it is still a fairly good way to learn. Alternate ways of doing this would be typing a paper about a topic then reading it to the class and having them type a response to two of them. Then have us turn them in but before have someone in the class make corrections then using skills we have learned correct and revise a word document. I feel as though it would be good practice to help us later in life or as an adult.

I do not think that a DQ is a good idea to communicate ideas because not every one will spend the time to type up a 150 word easy. On the other hand its is a good way to yous the skills we learn in digitools like using the internet and typing. It also teaches response ability because at the beginning in the year I didn't do any of these DQ's and now I am doing them a lot lately. Also I am trying in other classes. Now I personal don't like the DQ's because it is repetitive and I just don't like typing a 150 word essay on my Friday nights.

My opinion on DQ’s… They aren’t that big of a deal, like I don’t see what people are complaining about. What’s so hard about typing a short response? But DQ’s kind of don’t rock sometimes because you forget about them and then you have to think of something quick to write. I hate that some DQ’s take like forty something minutes. They don’t really teach me anything and they can sometimes be a waste of time. I personally think we should quit the DQ’s because some people don’t do them anyways; they aren’t good when you forget about because you get detention, no really cares and there is no motivation to get up and do them. I would like it if DQ’s were actually on something interesting instead of learning about communication skills or class behavior. Some people already know how to do that and some people don’t care. There is no point in doing them if people don’t want to take the time to do them and just don’t care. To make DQ’s interesting and more “fun” would be to have the topic on something cool and exciting. Like what our opinions are on about our favorite foods or what our future careers are and talk about them or what our opinions are on our favorite bands. And I know that has nothing to do with digitools but hey it was an idea.

I’m not learning too much from the dqs out of all honesty I do get to learn a lot more about how my classmates think and have opinions on different situations. For example, when during the PowerPoint dq when our class talked about the PowerPoint’s on how to make a successful PowerPoint I didn’t learn too much but when we stated more of our own opinions I got to know the rest of my class a little more.

What I have learned from DQ’s are that it takes a lot of responsibility to make sure you do your DQ every week. Also that when you do your DQ that you make sure everything is correct because if its not it can be read wrong and that can down your grade a lot. I do kind of enjoy reading other peoples opinion to see what point of view they are looking at. The things I don’t like about DQ’s are sometimes you can misread what you are supposed to do and you can either get a bad grade because you didn’t do them right or you spend forever texting your friends and trying to find out how to properly type the response. I don’t think that we should have a DQ every week because I think that it can get pretty stressful when you have a lot of homework and making sure that you study for all the tests and quizzes. I also think that sometimes it can take a lot of time up and that isn’t always good because if you are busy it can interfere a lot. I honestly don’t think that there is any thing that I like about doing the DQ’s. That is my opinion on DQ’s. Comments are closed.
