On September 11 we should take a moment to reflect on a major United States tragedy, for some this will be a day they lost everything and for others a day they realized everything. All though you were to young to remember this was a day that needs to be remembered and taught about in the history of
our country. In the blog for this week I want you to reflect on what you know about that day and what your parents remember about that day. Then reflect on what the day has done for the USA and your family, have things changed from 2001 to 2014? Are we better off or have our lives been changed for the worse? Finally, reflect on what you think about this day and its personal significances to you or others. I want honesty but respect for others feelings as well. Your initial response should be 200 words. I am not requiring a peer response this week, but if you read another students post and feel there is something you want to post in a reflection for that student you can earn extra credit points for your reflections.

September 11, 2001 was a tragic day for the United States. The twin towers were hit by a plan that was high jacked and then a second plan would hit the second building. A lot of people lost their lives because of this horrible event. Many files were lost and burned. In my opinion everyone should take a min to realize what sacrivses that the United States gave to be where we are now if the twin towers had not had been hit by plains. Osama Bin Laden was a terrorist and wanted to punish every one that was not agreeing with the way that he saw life. During the event two plains hit the twiin towers the first tower was hit in the morning. And on the first plane there were 227 civilians, and 19 high jackers. This event was the deadliest incident for firefighters in history. If Osama Bin Laden had been stopped before the trade center we would still have one today. The twin towers were Americas only trade center it and the people inside it had a very important job to do. They were to control were every trade was to happen. They were also supposed to know who was contacting the U.S. and what country was trading with us. The world trade center was not the only building to be hit that day. There were four attacks on the United States that day in history. Another one was flight 77 which was also high jacked by teriosit and that plane was to hit the pentagon. And then the fourth plane flight 93 was also high jacked and it was to crash into Washington D.C. but it crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. My whole point behind telling you guys this is that we should appreciate our country and the men and women that fight for our freedom and we should thank every person that we meet that is in the military or were in the military.

What I know about September 11, 2001, is that it was a tragic day in history. It all started around 8:45 a.m., the first of four terrorist attacks occurred. The first plane, a Boeing 767, hit the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. What first appeared to be a freak accident turned into a nightmare when about twenty minutes later the second plane, also a Boeing 767, hit the south tower of the trade center. Then later a third plane hit the pentagon just outside Washington D.C. Then the last plane landed in a field somewhere in Pennsylvania. My mom said, “I remember just doing my usual morning activities when the news came on and said that the north twin tower was hit by a plane, at first they thought it was a freak accident but then the second plane hit and they knew it was a terrorist attack.” She said it was just “pandemonium”. When I look at this day I just think that it has helped the USA by making us realize that we need to be stricter in who we let in this country, and it also helped us in finding the leader of all terrorists Osama Bin Laden. For my family it has helped by realizing that we can’t take life for granted because that very terrorist attack could have happened near us, like in the Tri Cities, or even in Pomeroy. I think this day just made the world safer by making everyone realize that we need to buckle down on our security. Things have changed from 2001 to 2014 because now you have to have passports to go to different countries and we killed Osama Bin Laden. I think because of this attack we are better off in the USA because we have killed Osama, our security to get in this country is a lot better, and it makes people come to the realization that that very attack could have happened to Pomeroy or somewhere a lot closer to us. This day to me should not be remembered for the terrible attacks but for the great men and women who helped out in saving people from these burning twin towers. Also for all the great men and women who died this day in these attacks. This day to me is the remembrance of how we as a country came together to help during these attacks.

Deven I appreciate all the thought that that you have put into your writing. You must have asked lots of good questions and done lots of research for your comment. My family members did not remember or know very much about that tragic day but I read yours and learned everything that I needed to know for my writing.

What I know about September 11, 2001 is that the World Trade Center was attacked by terrorist. There was going to four attacks. The first hit the north tower twenty minutes later the second attack hit the south tower. The third attack hit the pentagon. The last plane hit some where in a field out of town. This was a tragic day in the USA. A lot of peoples lives were lost that day. What has changed since 2001 to 2014 is that there has been a lot of cut down on terrorist activity. Also Osama Bin Laden has been killed by the US. That has stopped a lot of violence. Other things have changed to. Russia tried to take over Crimea. Other countries have been fighting to. There is also the killing of Americans in ISIS. I think that September 11, 2001 was a horrible day in history. A lot of people lost there lives. I feel lucky that one of my family mates wasn't in one of those towers when the attack hit. I think that we should all be lucky and thankful that our country is what it is free. That's what I think about September 11, 2001.

My knowledge of the 9/11 tragedy is very poor; I was only 1 years old. The things of the tragedy I’ve heard were very heart breaking for the U.S. On the other hand my mom has a better knowledge of what happened on that day are remembering people’s eyes “glued” to the TV trying to find out what had happened, who did it, why did it happen, and watching to see if there were any survivors from the accident. Also the hero story from it all was about how the passengers on the plane were attacking the pilot, so the plane landed in a field instead of the buildings. They would have died any ways but less people died from their heroic acts. The dedicated firefighters and police helped the survivors from the crash and the injured out of the buildings from the rubble. They never really went home until they knew that everything was taken care of and that everyone was safe. The accident has affected us because now we use the words terrorism, and terrorist attacks more often. Also now we are worried about what we carry on a plane, random checks of our bags, and now we have more security than we ever have. My knowledge has grown about the 9/11 tragedy but there is still a lot we can learn.

I was just one year old when the incident happened. I don’t remember anything from that day obviously. My parent have told me a lot about that day, so has the news with its yearly session for this event. 9/11 is a very tragic event and even though I wasn’t old enough to be emotionally effected by this event, I still kind of am today. I always wonder if it’s going to happen again, especially with ISIS running around now. I feel we, as a country, are better now then we were back then. We have way more security measures than we did 13 years ago. And that event threw the nation off balance in such a way we had to find a new way to defend ourselves. We have increased the amount of security and cautiousness in our nation. This day effected my family in a way that I am sure all families felt. They were about four times more cautious. Of course this faded away but it put my family on hold in a way. This really only lasted a while from what I know. This is all I remember from that day, the tragic event of 9/11.

What I know about the tragic day of September 11, 2001 was that an Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda attacked us. On September 11, 2001 a terrorists group hijacked four airlines and flew into a suicide attack against targets in the United States. It all started at 8:45 a.m. on a Tuesday morning when a Airlines Boeing 767 loaded with 20,000 gallons of jet fuel that soon was to ignite crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. Instantly killing and trapping hundreds of people, it all appeared to be a freak accident. Then 18 minutes later a second Boeing 767 appeared out of the sky and was heading toward the World Trade Center and in a matter of seconds collided into the south tower. Right after that second crash every one knew “America was under attack”. But it wasn’t over yet cause soon after, a third plane hit the pentagon just outside of Washington D.C. Then a final plane came crashing in a field western of Pennsylvania. What my dad said he remembers was “ that he was at work, listening to the radio and then all of a sudden started hearing that the World trade center was being attacked be terrorists” He said “ he thought it was an accident at first just like everyone else thought, but soon came to realize that it wasn’t”. What this day has done for the USA and all the families is that you have to be more careful letting people in your life and or into the county. Make sure they are safe and harmless. You have to treat everything serious. That connects to both families and the USA. Things have changed a lot because of that tragedy. Our government has got stricter and making us has things like passports and visas. I think that this day has made our country safer and also made us the people take things more serious and not take everything for granted. We shouldn’t take this day as a horrible day because it only helped us become safer. We did loose a lot of people but they all have our respects and love. The day of September 11, 2001 helped us come together.

September 11, 2014 also known as nine eleven, was a terrible loss for our whole country. I know that terrorists highjacked some planes and crashed into the twin towers. I also know that close to four thousand people died that day. My dad remembers that two planes crashed into the towers and one into the pentagon. Also that a few great people went and took one of the planes back, because they saved it from crashing into another building.

September 11th, 2001 was a very tragic day for everyone. It was a day that a terrorist group al-Qaeda attacked the United States in New York city and Washington D.C. They had killed nearly 3,000 people and caused at least $10 billion of damage. Four passengers were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists, so they could fly into and destroy the twin towers, located in New York city. The plane that crashed into the tower that day was a Boeing 767, loaded with 20,000 gallons of jet fuel. After the first plane had hit, a second Boeing crashed into the World Trade Center. 343 firefighters died that day, doing their job and trying to save the people trapped in the buildings. Just after the attack on the Twin Towers, yet another plane crashed into the Pentagon Military Headquarters, located in Washington D.C. Fuel from the plane caused a massive fire, killing 125 innocent soldiers and civilians, along with 64 people that were on that plane. Many people lost everything that day, and even though I was only about 2 years old and obviously don't remember anything from that day, I still understand the pain that everyone felt, the pain that my family and other family's felt. I can't imagine how devastating this must have been for people that had lost loved ones and family members in the terrible event.

I was too young to remember what that day was like, but every year I hear about how tragic that day was and how horrible it was. What I do know though, is that a terrorist group known as al-Qaeda hijacked four airlines. They flew one of them into the North Tower of the World Trade Center, and about 18 minutes later a second airline flew into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. Thousands of people were killed in a matter of seconds. After the first airline hit the North Tower everybody thought it was a freak accident, but after the second airline hit everybody knew that America was under attack. The third airline was hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon. Not as many people died in that attack, but there was still thousands of people who died because of it. The fourth airplane, known as United 93 was hijacked and then taken over by the passengers on the plane. They crashed the plane into a field in Pennsylvania. By doing this, these courageous people saved hundreds of lives on a day when almost 3,000 people died. Those 3,000 people do not include the firefighters who so bravely climbed up the stairs of the collapsing twin towers to save as many people as they could, even knowing that they were going to die. That is the most courageous thing I have ever heard of and respect these men more than anything else because of what they did and why they did it.

I don’t remember very much since I was about 2 years old when this tragedy happened, but I do know that it was caused by a group of terrorists who took over 4 planes and flu them into the World Trade Center causing about 3,000 deaths and many more injuries . Also in the first week of this happening, U.S stocks lost a total of about 1.4 trillion dollars and the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) fell 1,369 points or about 14.3 %. When I asked my dad about what he remembered from that day he told me that the first time he heard about it was in the car on the way to work and how when he got there every one was glued to the TV watching the news. Many things have changed since then. About 3.8 billion dollars has been spent to rebuilding the world trade center. Also 9/11 made us realize that we need to tighten security in places like Airports to prevent terrorist attacks. This day does not have any personal significance to me, although I think it’s still important to take the time to remember the lives that were lost in this tragic event.

9/11 was a day of death and destruction, thousands of civilians not to mention law enforcement and firefighters were killed by 2 hijacked planes crashing into the twin towers in new york city as well as 1 plane in Washington D.C., at the Pentagon. Luckily one of the 4 planes that were on course towards N.Y. and D.C. was redirected by the passengers on board, sadly this plane still crashed into Pennsylvania killing all on board. These planes were hijacked by terrorists who were part of a terrorist group named al-queda. Though many consider this a tragedy it was also a wake up call for the u.s. government. Something like 9/11 would have happened sooner or later I am just glad it happened before al-queda became to powerful.

What I knew about 9/11 was that there were members of a terrorist organization called al Qaeda that hijacked some planes and aimed them at some large popular landmarks, like the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and quite possibly the White House. I had not known that there were four planes, and two were aimed at both towers of the World Trade Center, or that one plane had crashed into each tower of the World Trade Center. The North tower first, and the South tower 18 minutes later, and 1 was aimed at the Pentagon, and that plane destroyed part of the Pentagon. There was also a fourth plane that was quite possibly headed for the White House, but its passengers took over and crashed it in a field in Pennsylvania.

What I know about 9/11 is that it was a day of terrible loss. Osama Bin Laden hijacked a plane and was going to crash it into a building but before it got there the passengers on board took control of the plane and it went down in Pennsylvania. Know one survived the crash. Bin Laden also had other planes crash into buildings. The Pentagon was one of those buildings. A lot of people died and the one that lived have to remember that day when they watch their friends and family die. The last buildings that fell were the Twin Towers. This was the biggest and most heart breaking loss America has seen in years. Thousands of people died, some heroically, others tragically. Ever one was affected by what happened, some more so than others, but what I know is that no one should forget that day. The day so many people died.

In 2001, terrorists took over four airplanes and crashed them into large buildings, including the north and south towers of the world trade center in New York. Another was targeted at Washington D.C., but crashed in a field instead. The crash killed about three-thousand people, and was a very deadly event for firefighters and law enforcers. It also caused about ten billion dollars of property damage. This crash was on September eleventh, or 9/11, which is also 911.

September 11, 2001 is a day we all know as a tragedy. I don’t remember it because I was only 1. What I do remember though is the stories that people would tell about their loss that day. My family wasn’t personally affected by this event, but I asked my Grandma about how she felt that day and she replied “All I knew was that I was terrified. I didn’t know if there were more planes coming or when it would stop.” I also asked my mom and she said something of the same sort. I believe this event affected many people. People lost a lot that day; they also suffered through hard ache. Just the fact that people could be so selfish to take other’s lives makes me sick. People are people no matter what language you speak or region you live in. You should know not to take life from others. Just because we are Americans and have a different religion and government doesn’t mean we are bad. Though, I think that Osama Ben Laden had taught and mind controlled his people so much that they couldn’t think for themselves and I honestly don’t blame them. If they were raised to think a certain way, they would think that Osama Ben Laden was right and the world needed to be “cleansed” I mean they would truly have not known anything else. You have some same beliefs as your Mother and/or Father, right? So, I only blame Osama Ben Laden for the tragedy. As I think more about this as I’m writing, I think that we really need to focus on the people in that last air plane, who saved a lot of people in the White House. Those people knew that they were going to die that day, but instead of huddling in a corner, waiting for their fate, they decided to make their final breaths worth something and they should be recognized as true superheroes of the USA. They fought the pilots in that air plane and saved many. Honestly, when I die, I want to die doing something like that.

What I know about September 11, 2001, is that it was a very horrifying day for many. I have also learned that there was 3 planes in this attack. One plane struck one of the towers and another plane hit the opposite Twin Tower. The third plane was going for the Pentagon, but the passengers bravely took the plane over and crashed it into a field. During the attack Osama Bin Laden messaged the White House which was how we knew that he was the leader of the attack. Just after it was announced that the attack had happened large buildings were being evacuated. 11 years later in 2012 Osama Bin Laden was killed. I have learned very little about this tragic day in the past, but I have learned lots from my fellow students and my mother today. My mom was at home and my dad was at work when this all started to come on the news. My dad called my mom and told her to watch the news. She decided to go to my grandparent’s house. This day in history didn’t feel very personal to my family, due to us living on the west side of the country. My Grandpa had told my mom that we need to fight back right away. A while later we went to war with Afghanistan then it moved over to Iraq. We are still at war. Comments are closed.
